That only applies if you finance the device, not if you pay the full amount from the start.

This topic has come up in every spectrum mobile deal, and while the terms seem a bit ambiguous I've yet to see a single person subject to this while paying off the device at the beginning.

Per Spectrum.com

"To request an unlock code from Spectrum Mobile:

The device must be purchased from, and activated on, a Spectrum Mobile line.
The device must be paid off in full.
The device cannot be reported lost or stolen or involved with fraudulent activity.
Your Spectrum Mobile device must be active for 60 days and in good standing, with no outstanding payments."

Spectrum does not use traditional contracts for its services.

link? cant find it.
if its really no contract, then this phone never requires buying service? i can just buy the phone itself theoretically? meaning this upfront cost of $400 - $200 after device appraisal with nothing else required?

Correct. It will be network locked however until you hit 60 days of service with spectrum mobile. The cheapest plan is only $25 a month however so it's not that big of a burden to meet the requirement. Also the unlock is not automatic AFAIK, you need to call/chat with support.

If you buy the phone without service, then how do you unlock it?

does anyone know if pixel phones from spectrum can ever be bootloader unlocked (not asking about a carrier lock) like verizon pixel phones can never be bootloader unlocked, can this one?
Yes they can. I did that on a pixel 7 pro deal from spectrum a few years ago.

Not in a Spectrum area to qualify for a plan to buy the phone. 🫤

No contract. 60 days. Check prior Spectrum deal threads like the S25 one.
Yeah the S25 was $93 out the door trading in a cheapo Motorola phone. Some then traded the S25 in for an S25+ and then traded the S25+ in for an S25 ultra. After a few days Spectrum put a stop to the multiple trade in loophole.

Yes, having spectrum cable service is required.

Good deal but spectrum internet is required to buy. I just canceled mine and went to frontier. Don't know if there is a way to overcome that? Pixel 9 256GB is giving me $232 total trade in.

Did Spectrum put a stop to the multiple trade-in loophole? Earlier this year, before the S25 promotion ended, I did trade-in 10 times. That's too bad.

So for me, it's ~$240 when it's said and done -> $399 + tax up front - ~$260 trade-in later.

Lmao.. I literally switched to Visible 2hrs ago, was okay with Spectrum mobile for last 2+yrs. Could have jumped on this deal but don't think this was there yesterday. Looking for a decent phone without breaking bank. O well..
