The GameSir G8 Plus is a comfortable Bluetooth telescopic controller that shines for mobile gaming, cloud streaming, and emulation across phones, tablets, Switch, Android, iOS, and PC. Its biggest strengths are the ergonomic grip, familiar layout, and wide fit, including phones in rugged cases and tablets up to 8 inches, with some setups even using it vertically. The Bluetooth only design avoids USB C port and case hassles, though it means no wired audio jack or pass through charging. It is a roomy, portable option that feels especially convenient for quick pick up and play sessions.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes. It is described as very comfortable and more ergonomic than the Backbone, with less hand fatigue during longer sessions. The familiar button and stick layout also makes it easy to use for extended play.

  • It works with Android, iOS, and PC wirelessly, and it is also used with Switch, including OLED and original Switch 1. It can handle controller-supported Android games, emulators, and streamed console or PC games.

  • Yes. It connects over Bluetooth only, so there is no USB-C plug to line up or damage, and it can fit phones in rugged or TPU cases without removing them. That makes it quicker to pick up and play, especially compared with USB-C telescopic controllers.

  • Yes. It can extend far enough for a large iPad mini and is reported to fit 8-inch tablets, with one setup working on an iPad mini 7th gen and another on an 8-inch tablet. It can also be used vertically for some tablet games or systems.

  • It can be used without noticeable latency for remote play and is described as responsive and well made. That makes it suitable for Moonlight streaming, emulators, and other controller-supported Android or iOS games.

I just bought a Backbone to see what it's all about. I only been using it for the Delta emulator.

Man, I'm so out of touch. I don't even know what games there are or I could play on the iPhone.
I if I return the Backbone and got this, does anybody have any recommendations the type of games I could play or download or use or subscribe to?

Both are good, but for this price get the g8 for the ergonomics. It's really comfortable to hold

The GameSir G8+ doesn't have a USB C or any kind of port. It solely relies on bluetooth. At least for me the Backbone requires me to take my phone out of the case, with the case it won't fit. Out of all the ones that I have I the Backbone it the one that makes me worry about the USB C port getting damaged from the phone. I still like it, specially since it has the 3.5mm audio jack and also lets me charge the phone while playing. With the Gamesir G8+ you have to rely on either a Bluetooth headphones or the phone's speakers. If your phone is running out of battery, you could still charge it and keep playing "un-docked" which might not be as convenient. If I had to choose between the Backbone and the Gamesir G8+ now that I have used both, I would go with the Gamesir G8+. It beats it in convenience, the amount of effort to pick it up and start playing is like 5 seconds. With the Backbone there is a whole thought process of, I need to take my case off, make sure the USB C port gets connected without breaking the phone, etc. Also the benefit of the GameSir being able to work with the Switch is also another good plus. Last but not least, while I like the Backbone, for long sessions of gameply the GameSir G8+ feels more comfortable to the hand. The Backbone will get my hand fatigue after an hour or so.Last point is portability. The GameSir G8+ is way bigger than the Backbone. In my case it hasn't been an issue so far as I just put it in my backpack. But for some other cases where I don't have a backpack or a safe place to keep the controller I tend to go with the Backbone or the Kimshi V2.
Would you think regular G8 not plus would be better for the USB?

There are benefits to both. It really depends on what you want. I have both and use both regularly with extensions for larger tablets. I playemulation and ps5 (pxplay) on these. I even use them more than my actual ps5, though of course you still must remote to it. The experience has been great here.

The g8 usb is nice and, as pointed out, does support pass-through charging. It's my main go to. The benefits of the g8+ is I can mount my tablet vertically for different types of games or systems.

You could technically play anything with controller support on Android, which includes most emulators. You could also stream game consoles and pcs to play them portable. I use it for all of the above.

There's some iOS games included with Netflix if you have a plan. I "think" there's some also with Amazon Prime via Luna app but I could be wrong. I need to look into that more. I'm currently playing Dead Cells for free via Netflix.

I have the Razer Kishi V2, the Backbone One (USB-C), the GameSir X2 Pro Xbox, the 8bitdo Ultimate Mobile, and this GameSir G8+. Out all of them the one I use the most is the GameSir G8+.

It fits my 6in phone without having to take it out of its rugged phone case. I think the convenience of it being Bluetooth, not having to take my phone out of the case, it being comfortable to the hand, with a familiar buttons and thumb sticks layout, decent battery life is what makes it so convenient to use.

I don't only use it with my phone on the go, but the Oled and OG Switch 1 can also be used with this controller and I have used it several time with it.

Totally recommend it. Buying one more as a gift. Thanks.
Cosign. Fantastic controller for phones, switch, iPad mini, and 8" tablets

This controller is much better than a Backbone in shape/ergonomics, ability to support cases and various devices, etc.

I would also like to know this. Also, I recently bought the g8 galeio and could not for the life of me get it to work with a s25+ or s24+. Enabled usb debugging, had the app installed but it would never detect it. Anyone else have this g8+ and getting it working with either phones?

there are different modes for it, I don't have one but I'd recommend watching youtube to figure out which mode to be in
