Commenters acting like it's substantially easier than a 3x3 don't know how to solve it.
This particular cube (from Rubik's) is terrible compared to almost any other 2x2. Try something from one of the major speed cube manufacturers like Moyu, Gan or MGC. They will be more expensive than this deal, but will be much less frustrating to turn. They use springs and piece geometry to add some flex.
With a 3x3 magnets are really nice, but not really needed in a 2x2. I get the same times on my $5 Moyu meilong as my $20 magnetic MGC Elite.
If you want to give someone a cube, give them the consensus best budget cube, the Moyo RS3M V5. It's better than any cube that existed five years ago and it's $7.
Nobody who actually enjoys cubes uses Rubik's brand. Rubik's hasn't innovated and just gets by based on name recognition now that it's patents have expired. Rubik's branding is now owned by Spin Master toys and GAN makes the overpriced Rubik's branded "speed" cube.
