Deal History
Deal History includes data from multiple reputable stores, such as Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. The lowest price among stores for a given day is selected as the "Sale Price".
Sale Price does not include sale prices at Amazon unless a deal was posted by a community member.
What's criminal are the price increases for more storage -- 128GB @ $449 vs 512GB @ $749. $300 for 512GB of SSD NAND which is reported to be max $15 for the raw chip. $15 --> $300 is some margin!
They weren't lying. It did lower costs.... their cost. And it increased "their" profits while keeping the same price or raising it. And still people keep on buying their products. 😒

Compared to the $299 iPad Air M1 256GB deal from Walmart last month, is this as good a deal? Seems like you're paying quite a premium for size.
The likelihood that you will get a $299 iPad Air M1 256 GB sold new, directly by a major retailer, is exceedingly small. It's of limited utility to compare this deal to one that isn't likely to return, given that cyber Monday is almost over. If Walmart wanted to price their Starlight M1 Airs at $299 they would have already done so throughout the weekend.
If you're planning to upgrade to iPadOS 26 at any point, then A17. My A16 Mini chokes on it.
agree ! this is probably the worst upgrade you don't want to be on !! - 90% of iPads hardware cries and crawls !! stay way from upgrading to iPadOS 26 .

I have one of the Walmart $299 iPads and was asking for myself. But now that this Mini deal is OOS, doesn't matter now.

I also think the cellular upgrade fee is ridiculous. I'm THINKING, HOPING when Apple includes their own in-house modems, cellular will be included in all iPads for free. If ur wondering, instead of purchasing a bt chip, WiFi chip, and cellular chip from 3 different companies, Apple has developed their own chip which has all 3 combined. Especially on the mini, realistically this is the only device I'd personally take without my phone for hotspot

Actually, they are not all in one chip. Apple's C2 chip is their latest 5G modem chip and the N1 chip is their WIFI and BT chip.

If only some company would come out with something better and longer lasting than iPads.

Tough comparison between the M1 and A17 Pro chip I would say. The WM deal was for double the storage which may be important to some. But the size of the mini is important for those that prefer it - say drop it in a purse for example. Apple would make a killing if they had a mini version of their regular iPad.
And that was the deal then potentially. This is the deal now..
Yeah the mini still the best size IMO for a tablet u actually going to hand carry around the house and even outside. I got the regular and larger sized ones and they get heavy pretty quick and unweildly pretty quick making me use the mini the most.
