300 nits of brightness is relatively low and probably has poor viewing angles.

I disagree, I love a cheap laptop even if specs aren't perfect. At 8 gigs of RAM I would upgrade day one.

I would be as upgrading down the road is nice. I was able to upgrade the battery, add a stick of ram, and a second hard drive as needs changes for my kiddo on a 200 laptop that I bought a couple years back.

RAM upgradeability is important for longevity. 8GB down the road will handicap the system. Important for value conscious buyers (most slick dealers).
