About this Book:
  • You know what's worse than breaking up with your girlfriend? Being stuck with her prize-winning show cat. And you know what's worse than that? An alien invasion, the destruction of all man-made structures on Earth, and the systematic exploitation of all the survivors for a sadistic intergalactic game show. That's what.
  • Join Coast Guard vet Carl and his ex-girlfriend's cat, Princess Donut, as they try to survive the end of the world—or just get to the next level—in a video game–like, trap-filled fantasy dungeon. A dungeon that's actually the set of a reality television show with countless viewers across the galaxy. Exploding goblins. Magical potions. Deadly, drug-dealing llamas. This ain't your ordinary game show.

Amazing book, but the audiobooks are far superior.

I may buy it just for the collecting.

Agreed! The series is second to none in the genre. And the audiobooks take it to another level! I don't have any of the physical books, but I'm tempted because I've never seen a DCC deal on SD.

I've never read any other LIT-RPG, but this series was unexpectedly one of my favorites.Definitely agree that audiobook performance is the way to go. However, I did snag a physical copy a while back with no regrets.Anxiously awaiting the other books!

The Audiobook on Audible is the best audiobook series I've ever listened to. I highly recommend anyone and everyone to listen to the audiobook. It's such a good series!

I resisted for so long, but I finally caved and read DCC. It's so good. I ended up addicted to the genre. That said, the series is strong for the first four books or so and then heads downhill. The newest book is, to me, unreadable.

I'm tempted to get a copy, but man... just another thing sitting on the shelf.

I don't listen to audio books, but I'm reading this series and it's great!! Paid full price for it a couple months ago and worth every penny, at this price it's a steal.

Get the audiobooks, this series hooked me but narrator and voice actor Jeff Hays is a huge reason for that

If you do kindle unlimited (maybe do the trial), the ebooks are free and part of the service. Once you have the book, audible will then only charge you between $2-7 for each of the audio books.

When the trial ends you'll lose the ebooks but you'll keep the audiobooks

There is a small story line at the end of each hardcover that is not in the audibook. About 1 small chapter per book.

FWIW, I'm the opposite of you. I enjoyed the first book quite a bit, but it's books 4-7 that have blown my mind. I consider book 7 a masterpiece. It's got everything an epic story could ever want.

This series is excellent. It is hard to pass up at this price, even just to be a shelf trophy for your audiobooks. I listen to a lot of audio, and this may be the only series where I think the audiobook is not merely comparable to the print, but actually better by a fair margin.
Additionally, there is a running story in the ACE hardcovers that is not in the audiobooks OR the prior softcover released that now go for a bajillion dollars. It is called backstage at the Pineapple Cabaret.

Truly? The card stuff is awful. Then it's a resource management game in the latest book. I just found it painful.
