fwiw, i bought the 2k+ outdoor and i have to say, this is the best portable wifi device i've tried yet and i've tried many. It's fully self contained and weatherproof. I bought some secure mount cases and bolted them to my rv in front and rear and in 90mph speeds no issue. I have them paired to a Sync module inside the vehicle and a Starlink mini via 12v power on the $5/ month (~500kbps) standby service plan and works fantastic. there's no bulk, very streamlined profile and the motion detection is fantastic. On the inside of the rv I have 3 mini 2k+. One for the cabin itself and the other two I have behind the passenger and driver windows facing out.

Yes you can, but you cannot use the new Sync modules. You can still use the Sync 2 though.

But with this new module they are bundling, looks like they're trying to phase it out to move everyone away from self hosting and onto cloud subscriptions.

There are three types of sync modules for the blink camera: Sync module core, sync module XR, sync module 2. For local storage, the XR and 2 have abilities to do that. XR supports microSD card and 2 supports USB drive. The sync module core will not support local storage.

He is correct. This system has the sync module core which will not support the local storage. You need the sync module XR and sync module 2 to support local storage. Look like you have the sync module 2 which support USB drive.
