yeah it's been at least a week of these deals and at multiple stores in stock. Paid a little extra and got the XFX Swift version for $650.

Even for running AI locally? I'm trying to upgrade my 6700xt to run Gemma 3 27B quantized without it costing an arm and a leg.

Notable 9070 XT prices atm:

Powercolor Reaper $580 (Microcenter)

Asrock Challenger was $580 now $600 (Microcenter) (Newegg) (Walmart) (Central Computers)

Asrock Steel Legend $620 (Microcenter) (Newegg) (Walmart) (Central Computers)

Powercolor Hellhound $630 (Newegg) (Amazon) (Walmart)

Powercolor Red Devil $650 (Newegg) (Amazon) (Walmart)

*Most of the Walmart stuff is actually S&S by Newegg but it can make a difference in your couponing and cashback.

AI is a vram hog. You want 7900xt or xtx with 20 or 24 gb or vram

No one wants an AMD card for AI right now. That's why they're able to provide better gaming performance for less money. When they can compete in CUDA, things will change.

Yes, CUDA is the most supported/preferred platform. But ROCm has come a long way, pretty straightforward to get Llama / stable diffusion.. etc up and running on AMD these days. That and 3090's & 4090's are still hard to come by, it makes sense as an option for some
