Amazon has some pretty sketchy reviews on this one. Mostly the flood light spazzing out.. I ended up purchasing the solar version..

I bought one used from a guy off eBay and it did that. Fortunately he just refunded me the money and I didn't have to return, but the item is completely useless because I can't even turn off the lights if I wanted to.
anywho i got a new one of Amazon and no issues. I do think it's vehicle detection could be better tho at night. I have no issue during the day but at night it seems i can be about to turn off my car in my driveway before it notices me.

Will these work for mounting where the plate is on the ceiling and the lights/camera's are bent 90 degrees? Can you point one floodlight in one direction and the other 180 degrees opposite to light up two areas?

Yes you can mount under eaves and yes they can point up and down opposite. You would need a thick box to provide clearance for the light to rotate though. The lights also fold in a clapping/book opening motion as well and rotate.
