S1 is more designed for lighter work or tight spaces, L1 seem more for those needing more adjustments/levels/torque settings.
I bought the S1 apex and the Hoto 25 piece, and I much prefer the smaller flashlight style hoto than the drill style.. it just seems to make it easier for assembling furniture since you can hold the furniture with one hand and drive the screw with the other, whereas holding a drill-style screwdriver can be a bit awkward because of the angle you have to keep your hand.
