This is not fiber internet! Same old coax. Very asymmetric connection with 1gbps down but only 40mbps up

Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.
That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

AND the modem pictured in the confirmation is a black one that looks older and might not actually be capable of the 117 like the current gateway I'm using now, which is the white once currently supplying uploads over 117.
Any one's confirmation show the same older gateway?
My Mint unlimited deal is up at the end of the month - thinking this would be the way to go for a year.
I asked, "so it won't cost more if I don't activate the account"
They responded, "exactly - we just have to not activate it in the 90 days and it falls"

Where I am is like $8 a month in taxes and fees. I have a low use line that I was considering using it with but it comes out more expensive than my current low use plan because of the taxes and fees. Just recently you could get $60 yearly plans with 5gb of data a month. This plan is almost $100 for the year.
It's not a good enough offer to pull someone off the big carriers if they are getting subsidized phones and it's not great if you don't need unlimited. It's good for some people but its just ok for most when you factor in the gotchas.
