It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

Friends, my (owned) Motorola DOCSIS 3.1 modem is worth it's weight in gold. My download speed is 940mbps down and 41.5mbps up. I think they give you 90 days to register your Peacock account, maybe longer. Always say no to the free mobile phone, promo. After a year you get a big bill. The free line has a $30 activation fee.

Do we need to pay taxes and fees on the free mobile line?Terms say, "After 1 year, taxes and fees, and other applicable charges extra, and subj. to change." which in a way means taxes and fees are included/free for the 1st year? Also, I have ATT fiber till the end of the month so can I order this an only "activate" later?
Yes there's an option during signup to defer shipping the modem.

I'm seeing the self install kit for $4.99 at checkout (3-5 day shipping) otherwise I can choose for them to do the professional install appointment for free ? Is that what's showing for everyone?
Yes. It's forcing me to schedule a "professional installation." No other posts in this thread has mentioned that. I'm not sure how to get past it?

I also just signed up a few months ago on the 5 year promo for around $95. I got a new XB8 modem at that time. Would they have to send me ANOTHER modem if I tried this? And would my rewards level get set back to as if I were a new customer?
If you care about the rewards level then you can try the other way mentioned in the thread. Start incognito, select new customer without logging in, select the gig service and try adding the promo code, then when it prompt to create the new login use the same info as your existing account instead. Others have reported that you should be able to continue from there and finish the checkout process.

Before going through the process I recommend printing out your last statement so you have the existing account number saved.

I used to prefer my own modem when they were charging rental fees. Since now it's free, I put their equipment in bridge mode and use only modem part with my own router. Also disable Xfinity hot spot in your app. In the past, on couple occasions when there were some issues with my service, they tried to blame my modem.
+1 I also use Xfinity equipment in bridge mode. Speeds are as advertised on the FCC broadband label in my area.

Also, any current customers who have a store nearby should stop by and see what deals they have for current customers. Mention to them you saw these new customer deals and would like to take advantage of them. Most of the time they can rebundle you into one of their retention or loyalty plans.

I did this earlier this year to get the unlimited data and it was maybe $10 off from their new customer prices and still $50 cheaper than I was paying before.
I went to a local store, and they would only give me the $50 price for one year, not 5 years.

Maybe you need professional install in your location? Are you in an apartment or something?

Ok. I think most of the replies are about cable. Not sure if there are any differences in the process with fiber.

Xfininity has moved away modem rental fees. at least the last few months ive been checking. If you use your own modem you have to pay 30 for unlimited data or pay for xfi complete 25 which has modem and data included.

Okay, yeah maybe... The order of screens i'm getting are:
No, I am moving here as a new customer -> 1gig/1gig $50 -> Popup Add to plan -> Your Plan Includes WiFi Eqpt -> Xfiniti Streamstore -> We'll Take Care of Installation
This screen forces me to pick professional installation.
The next screen is the "create new login" screen, which has an "Already have an Xfinity ID? Sign In" link.
I'm considering just picking an installation appt, moving on with the registration, and hopefully can cancel it later?

It could be related to the place you are moving to, maybe it never had or has outdated xfinity cables (if that's a thing). At my place I used to have Comcast a couple of years ago so I'm thinking I just need to plug their modem to the existing old cable.

That's a surprise. You used to lose auto pay bank discount if you did that earlier
