It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

for those who chose self installation with own modem, how long did you take to activate the new plan?
Have done several times, only need a few minutes each time.

Under the same email?

If I use my wife's name for the new account, how will my current account be canceled automatically?
I think it get confusing when talking about accounts and Xfinity ID, etc.

Xfinity ID I believe is the email and password you use to login(?) And each Xfinity ID, you can link multiple internet accounts, mobile accounts, TV/streaming accounts, etc.

So if you have two houses and both use Xfinity internet, I assume both houses' Xfinity "internet" account can be link to the same Xfinity ID(email/password) (?)

BUT for each house/home, what people mentioned is ONE home can only have ONE Xfinity internet account. So if someone create a NEW Xfinity internet account for that home, the OLD Xfinity internet account will automatically cancel once the new account/modem is activiated?? Your Xfinity ID won't be gone but the old Xfinity internet account linked to that Xfinity ID will be canceled because each home can only have one internet account(?)

For anyone that is already a customer, all you have to do is create a new account under the same address as a new customer. Then your old account will automatically be canceled.
are you sure? tried with another email and said you are already a customer at this address. Confused

I temporarily have 2 accounts within the same user ID after place the new order. Today I received email from Xfinity saying that they have received the cancellation request on my old account. I didn't do anything. So I guess they will stop the old plan once I activate the new plan.

I couldn't do it on my own from the app as it said something went wrong and asked me to contact support team. I had to call activation team and they're helping me do it now as they need to disconnect the modem from previous account to activate the new account.
An update on this :
I was on call with the rep for 40mins and he was able to activate the new account successfully and he said the old account would get disconnected after 24 hours.
I checked the speeds and indeed it is using the new plan.
Thanks OP for sharing the deal.

Lol I love the Comcast haters. I live in Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania and service electric had a monopoly for 70 years. Comcast is a million times better. I'm paying sixty a month for 800 Meg internet while service electric charges 58 for 100 Meg. In 27 months my signal hasn't gone down once.
Your one good experience with Xfinity does not negate the countless negative experiences by Xfinity customers all over the country. Xfinity does not value loyalty. In fact, they jack up the price for old customers and impose an arbitrary data cap where they could (no competition or no local regulations).

With my previous 300Mbps/300Mbps plan, using the Wifi modem Xfinity provided, I can get above 300Mbps upload and 300 download speed as stated. But when I switch to use Hitron CODA56 Multi-Gigabit DOCSIS 3.1 Modem, the certified Xfinity upload speed is up to 455 Mbps but activate the modem with Xfinity during chat, only get up to 100+up and no where close 455Mbps. Is that normal?

Is it cause by the Xfinity online chat support not activate the modem correctly? Or it is due to cable wiring section inside the house which only Xfinity provided Wifi modem can handle the faster upload speed but Hitron CODA56 can't handle it? After switch to 1000/1000 plan, the download speed get up to 900+ Mbps but upload speed of CODA56 still around 100+ Mbps.
Would getting another modem like ARRIS S34 (another Xfinity certified modem) help or would contacting Xfinity support to check the upload speed again help?
I have an Aris S33 D3.1 and got a download of 690 and n upload of 5.86Mbps. Not good.

I followed your instructions and it worked flawlessly! You're the best. I ordered their modem but will use mine till I receive it. Do I just go online now and cancel the old account?

So I logged out of my current account and created a new order, and logged in at the checkout screen with my current ID. Everything looks fine and I was able to check out. Now they will send me a new modem, at that point I should remove the current modem and connect the new one? By doing this, will the existing service automatically cancel? Then I will go to the store and return the current equipment? Or is there a way to tell them that I am happy with my current equipment and not to ship new one but transfer the new service to the current modem?

I'm an existing customer and did the same thing a few years ago (created a new account at the same address) to get 1 gig internet for $60/mo. Now that promo rate has expired and I'm planning to sign up for $50/mo with the 5-year price lock (using the trick to log in at checkout). My issue this time is that I have a free 1-year xfinity mobile line for my son that I activated a couple months ago. So I need to figure out how to keep/transfer that number after creating the new account for this deal. Anyone have experience with an existing free mobile line?

EDIT: I wonder if I can port in the existing xfinity mobile number when activating the new free line. laugh out loud

We had signed up my wife for the (5) year price lock deal about (2) months ago and just yesterday I ordered this (5) year price lock deal under my name as it's a good chunk of change cheaper. We have an XB8 we are using already but I given a new XB8 for the new account which I picked up from the Xfinity store yesterday. I haven't activated and hooked up the new XB8 yet but I plan to tomorrow. My wife did get an email from Xfinity today saying we've received your cancellation request but we didn't request a cancellation. I guess this was prompted by me ordering service is my name at the same address? I guess we'll see what happens when I set up and activate the new XB8 tomorrow.

Just tried sign up the New customers 1Gig Internet plan on the website linked and able to get this plan for existing user AS LONG AS you don't login to your account INCLUDE DO NOT click on any login link (with email/password) during checkout.

One easy way is use Incognito/private windows of browser to signup for the plan.

- After you type in your address and see this new internet plan (1 Gig internet for $50), continue checkout following new account steps.
- And when need to type in your info, just type the same info as your existing account like email, name, phone number, etc during checkout BUT DO NOT login to your account using login link with email/password at all.
- Eventually, because you type in the same email and phone number, etc, as existing account, it will ask to verify your account by either verify using the Xfinity App or send text message to your phone number, etc.
- And once you verify your info using something like text message, it will have access to your payment information in your existing account and let you continue and complete the check out (using the same payment info like Checking account/credit card saved in your existing email/user account).

May be other people can verify if checkout like this will actually works?

I think if you click on the confirmation email to check your account, you will see TWO Xfinity internet accounts associate with the same email login account.

After logout of the account on the website and the App, then try log back in again, when try to manage your internet plan, you can now select the newer Xfinity internet account to activate it and verify the internet account detail.

==============

Anyway, for existing customer that create a new Xfinity account and sign up for this 1Gig plan.
After activated the new 1Gig plan with the same bring-your-own modem from previous account/plan (confirm the download speed has increased with speedtest), will the old plan automatically cancel or need to contact support (with chat) to do something with the old plan/account?
Best answer on here. Followed your directions and it worked flawlessly. I had the 300Mbs and my own Aris S33 D3.1 modem. I opted for their modem and will pick it up. I'm getting 675 down and 6 up in the same room as the modem. Hopefully their modem will increase the speeds. Now that I have 2 accounts, do you know if I have to cancel the old account or will it drop off? My payment for eh old one is the 12th so timing worked out well. Thanks again!

Does anyone know if we don't sign up for the $10 monthly autopay discount at signup if we can opt into it at a later date and obtain that $10 monthly discount?
