It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

Dealing with Comcast is always a pain. My story:
I couldn't downgrade/remove anything online as an existing customer so I went in the store where they easily got rid of all my old bundle stuff. The $50/mo is targeted for new customers so you will need to approach it as that (ie the start a new account and close the old one). They seem to be sticklers on that from what I have read. If you want to maintain your account I was quoted $95/mo for the 5yr Gigabit but that was BEFORE the billing discount. - so $85/mo x5yr, but the agent insisted I need to add a mobile line to get it ($110 w/o the line??). They said just call them with the device and they could activate it over the phone. I don't want/need another line and I'm seeing the $95/mo online without a mobile line.

Anyone else have a similar experience? I'm thinking I just ignore the mobile line stuff and the pricing will stay the same as I don't see any reference to the mobile line in my plan. Although it's free, I also don't want to pay activation or taxes on it.

I haven't noticed any change in the ul or dl speeds since before the change. I think the 35Mbps is them just being cautious so they don't have to defend themselves later.

I was able to get this by creating a new account....but my stupid self made all the information (phone number, email address, etc.) the same as my existing account. I was able to get the service activated somehow (but I had to call them do get the modem provisioned) but I have no way to view my account information for the new plan. Any way to fix this?

How did you cancel the old account and when did the rewards account get downgraded?
I just went into an Xfinity store with the old gateway and cancelled the old plan in person. The rewards account was downgraded maybe a few hours after I signed up for the new plan.

Mine did this log out and back in and it should pop up an account selector showing both accounts same address. I did this completely outside of this thread last night. I logged in like I do every month to see what my offers are to change speed. It said 2gb for 70 bucks I am paying 85 for 1.2 GB today.

I checked and double checked I was logged in. Went thought the process and got a new customer welcome email wth. I logged out and back in which account do you want to manage. I drove to a store this morning and was told you messed up call 1800Xfinity nothing this store can do. I made a reddit post and a dude messaged me on the side and said check SD before you do anything.

Well I was already talking to the Reddit mods they were like no problem we see a cancelation pending for your old account they were like give us permission to cancel this and we can find a package for you. I said no thanks if that's the case I'll just let it happen. They were very concerned I would give up my loyalty. I said point blank my loyalty makes my bill $140 why would I care?

Only thing I am worried about it getting service moved to my CM3000 from old account to new.

Interesting that your status was downgraded. I tried to follow all the steps listed here and sign for a new account under my name but I was always getting a message to call. My account was 18 years old so I was Diamond. Calls to customer service, chats, and a store visit all got me nowhere. I finally signed up for a new account under my wife's name.

So now I lost my Diamond status. Only benefit I could tell from that was getting Peacock for free (not limited to 2 years).

The new account under my wife's name is active and I cancelled my account yesterday. If I login under my own account, which has no active service, my reward status still shows as Diamond and I can now sign up for all these offers under my name. So, I can resign under my name and cancel my few days old account that my wife signed for, and may be I will keep my Diamond status. Worth the hassle?
It's probably not worth the hassle. The only things I've noticed that you get at the diamond level is free Peacock premium and the occasional code for two free movie tickets instead of the BOGO codes other tiers get.

For any good reason given to me, I will never go back to Xfinity. Paid $100 for 1 gig internet, but my speed never reaches that and is very slow. So they give me a promo, $70 for 2 gig, Still nope. Their mobile plan was fine until I canceled the internet, and they charged me an extra $25 for a standalone service (They didn't disclose it to me). Ugh...

I would pack up the old equipment and head to your nearest store and turn in your equipment. Then a few days later I would call to verify the store personnel canceled. Make sure you get your account number and tell them thats the account you want to cancel. Otherwise they may try and cancel the new one.

Thanks, I use my own modem so there's nothing to return. I reached out on reddit and hoping they can do it. If not I will go to the store. Thanks

without login when we give our address there is an option that says "No, I want to create my own additional account at this address."
So new account at same address is a feature they implemented that all we thought it is a trick to get better price. lol

Congrats to you as well. The only thing I was not able to do was to have hime apply the promo code for the gift card. He looks like he was in a hurry to get me to accept the offer. Did you get your gift card via chat?
Thanks! Nothing on my end also even if I added the promo code for the gift card in my cart, oh well. I'm just happy I got their promo 1Gb, gonna save a lot.

Yeah I don't see it the new account on my end, just the old one at the same address. I guess I'll ask the store when I go to drop off my old modem. However, going into the app does show that my modem is disconnected (so at least the new modem is mapped to the correct account).
