It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

I am also in this boat. I have no idea how to get access to the new account now. Every time I try to log in it shows only the old account. We're you able to get this figured out?
Nope still can't see the new account anywhere. Just letting this ride for now I guess. I mean I'll have to pay the bill somehow.

Was able to do this, have access to my old account and new account. Old is cancelled. New has 1 free line activated. But my issue is the old has 2 xfinity lines activated and I'm not sure how to transfer those to the new account. Do I need to call or go into the store?

Completed the switch from Xfinity to Frontier Fios after Xfinity wouldn't give me the promo. Frontier is giving me $49 for 1gig up/down for 1 year fixed. I'll negotiate in 12 months and probably reduce the speed as 1G is overkill, anyway. In addition to the promo rate, I am getting a $150 GC and first 6 months FREE.Some comments here from people lamenting the use of RG6 cable from Xfinity. Fios Fiber has a much higher max speed rating. Fiber also allows symmetrical communication where cable does not. My Frontier installer noticed that my outside utility box had a CAT6 connector present in there. The connector led directly to my indoor media box originally put in by my builder. The installation was a no brainer for him. The cat6 feed went directly to my router. I now should upgrade my router, but my 6 year old router has been sooooo reliable. Don't want to unhook it.
Most of us can't get Frontier or fiber, which is why we use Xfinity.

I was told my service would automatically be switched to my new account yesterday, and my old account would be canceled.. I still see both accounts and the new account shows inactivated equipment. I own my own modem. I think I'll give it another day or two and then call it. No sense paying duplicate bills.

Yes, best to call/live chat with them and ask to activate the new account equipment.

Last time, I got a call from them in a day or so and this was completed while I was on phone with them(they will ask to restart modem etc). This time I waited for 5 days and nothing. Glad I did live chat and human agent helped activate new equipment and cancelled old line. Was not sure if the new account billing starts from your order date or activation date!

I believe if someone have Xfinity internet account associated with your Xfinity ID and you use your own modem with your old plan (so no rental Wifi/modem), once you sign up with this promotion plan using the same Xfinity ID (using the steps mentioned here), then both old and new Xfinity internet account will be associated with the same existing Xfinity ID.

And as people mentioned, once you activate your new plan (like activate your own existing modem to the new plan or get the modem from Xfinity store and activate it), then they will automatically cancel your old plan. Assuming you don't have any outstanding issue like need to return rental modem, etc(?)

And there is a good chance Xfinity will cancel the old internet account automatically without contacting you since both Xfinity account is associated to you and your same Xfinity ID and the system know there should ONLY be one internet account per address(?)

Now, if the new and old internet account is associated with different Xfinity ID (especially both Xfinity ID has different name, email address, etc), then Xfinity will probably contact the old Xfinity ID owner to confirm about canceling the old plan(?)

I'm in the same boat. The only way I'm aware (in order to keep the same phone numbers) is to port out both lines to another mobile provider temporarily, then port them back in to the new Xfinity account. I spoke with a rep today about another issue who was very helpful, and said he's going to consult a friend who knows more about the mobile side and call me back.

I switch names between me and my spouse every year and the current subscriber got cancelled automatically because I don't use their equipment. I don't call in to cancel. It's a PIA to talk to these xfinity customer agent.
Do you have to return the modem and get a new one when you switch names?

Here is what I did. I use the same phone to create the new account under the same Xfinity ID. Once I did that, I could see both accounts and could switch back and forth. I have my own modem and requeted Xfinity gateway for the new one. While I was waiting for the gateway (shipping), I called the customer service to move my 2 mobile lines to the new account. He said he did set up from his side, but actuall move needed to be done by technical support. The technical support said the new accounts need to be activated to move the lines. Once I received the gateway and activated it, I called the tech support, and they moved both lines. They said it would show up in 15 minutes, but it took ~12 hours. The"manage plan" doesn't show since it only shows the customermizing the plan, but the billing shows that the mobile lines are now with the new account. This might not be applicable, but just want to share. I placed the order on Monday and activated it on Thursday evening, and billing shows the move on Friday morning.

I was told they couldn't move an existing Xfinity phone number over to the free promotional line.

Right, the promotional line is an entirely new line. You can't directly transfer an existing xfinity mobile phone number to a different xfinity mobile line. You can transfer the existing line to your new account, though. It will just add the line to your new account. If you want to use your old phone number with the new free promotional line, you'll need to port your old number out to a different carrier temporarily and then port it in to the new xfinity mobile line.

Which is exactly what I'll be doing

Thank you! I was able to subscribe to this new deal using my current xfinity account. Now just wait for the new gateway to come.

I switched to fastbridge fiber from xfinity earlier this year to save money but the fiber service was really really horrible. Signal was intermittent and speed was way slower than advertised. I switched back to xfinity after a few months. Xfinity is more expensive but service is way better in comparison.
