It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

I think the order is complete AFTER you activated the modem and the internet works. It makes sense since many new customer won't even have their modem when they order so they need to either pickup the modem from store or need to wait for the startup kit from mail. And even after they received the modem and startup kit, they may not even know if they can activate their modem because something is not connect either inside or outside their home and need Xfinity tech to come and check. And some may even need professional install.

So I believe the order is not completed UNTIL the modem is activated using the APP or activated by profession install.
Got it. Thanks. Looks like it is okay to activate after 12/21.

Few years ago, I had just moved into that home; I got billed for installation; I called their customer service number and explained that the line from kerb to home was not in place when I moved. They waived that fee.
You can try that. But good luck getting a human on the other end. Now-a-days it's very difficult to get a real person on any customer service line!
Best way to do it is to say you want to cancel. Otherwise the system does everything it can to keep you from talking to someone including hanging up on you.

I am an existing Xfinity customer. Can this be made to work if I live alone with no wife or significant other?

I followed the instructions that MozartA supplied for adding this plan to your account and delete the old plan and it worked flawlessly. Bravo for the post!

Couple things -

-Activating Peacock Problem

Has anyone had a problem activating the Peacock Premium? I had an olfactory peacock account briefly many years ago and the login info was the same for Xfinity and Peacock. When I picked up the modem at the Xfinity store, I asked the guy and he said to activate it, sign in with your Xfinity login info. It wouldn't let me do it since an old account already existed. I contacted Peacock and they were worthless and sent me to Xfinity and they said Peacock has to manually delete the old account. It got escalated and they are working on it.

-$50 Gift Card

I put the code in and it recognized it but I haven't received any info on it. I told the Xfifnty rep it was a virtual gift card and she said it can take 3 months to receive it. Anyone heard this?

Thanks again, overall awesome deal.

Yes, equipment and unlimited data are included. This is a great deal. $40/mo for 300 mbps will probably suit you just fine.

1. Activating Peacock premium: To activate your peacock premium properly, go to xfinity/ your-subscriptions and click the link to activate peacock. My previously Xfinity linked email account was throwing error and I just selected another email and was able to activate with a different email.

2. $50 prepaid card: I activated my new service few days ago and received an email from Comcast Incentives titled " Your Virtual Prepaid Mastercard is in the works" mentioning I would receive it after 90 days of maintaining services.

Hope that helps.

Your only option is to get a wife and sign her up. jk.

Just read through the comment section. Fellow SDers have pointed out detailed steps to get it done. But the basic idea is:
  • Don't log in to the Xfinity account initially.
  • Look up your address, then select "New Customer" and choose this plan (1Gig/$50/month). Also, make sure to enter Promo code MC50 (Virtual GC $50) or Gift100 (virtual GC $100), whichever works.
  • Continue forward until you are on the create an account step. Look carefully, and you will see "Sign in" to an existing account in there. Click the sign in and continue forward. and then submit the order. You should be good to go.
  • Once submitted, and you get confirmation of a new order, wait till you receive your new equipment.
  • Make sure to call/chat to cancel your existing account.

No, for next gen, you have to have a specific 3.1 modem capable of higher upload speeds.
https://www.xfinity.com/support/i...tomerowned

Your S33 and CM1200 won't take advantage of this, but this is only important if you're in a compatible area (not all areas are in the mid-split yet) and in higher tier internet packages (I have the 1.2gbps package, which gives me 100mbps upload instead of 35). But those 2 modems are still supported so all you'd have to do is plug them in and away you go.

But not all tiers or areas can support this "next gen speeds" so YMMV.
I bought the HitronTechnologies CODA56 about 6 months ago and it seems to work fine and give the speeds I'm paying for.

When using Hitron CODA56, you can get the max upload speed of 1Gig? Or only up to 400Mbps upload?

Any reason why it's saying at the last screen after following every step & submitting order, I get a "We're sorry, it looks like you'll need some help completing your order" Tried on web browser and the app.
