It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

I currently have a plan with them 800 mbps for 80/mo.. I have to wait until July else I have early termination. That sucks :/ I doubt this deal will be available in the summer.
Changing services with xfinity generally waives the early termination fee. You might be able to switch without paying. Also, the early.termination fees are prorated, so if they did charge you, you'd only have to pay whatever portion 6-7 months works out to, not the entire fee. So it may still be worth it.

As an existing customer, What's the duration from starting up as a new account (move in) - to canceling my orignal account? I want to make this as seamless as possible.

As an exisiting Xfinity customer, what's the timeframe from cancelling to starting a new account (used the moving to new address approach)? I want to make sure this is as seamless as possible.

So I just act like I'm a new customer in the beginning, and state that I am moving in and then at the end sign in to my account and it still will let me do this? I am at the checkout with my name still (didn't create a new account) and it looks like it's going to work. Then I assume I would cancel the old plan later? Edit: it sounds like from reading thru a bit I would be safer to create a brand new account

I just came back from the store and exchanged the xb6 for a xb7. They didn't have the xb8 in stock and directed me to another store. I signed up for the 300mbps service but they never asked me about it. Although I'm sure they could see it on their computer once they scanned the code of the xb6.

So I have fios TV and Internet, $200 a month.

I'm really just with them for regional sports (go birds, trust the process)

Noob question, what's the best way to watch sports? If I go to $50 from $200 a month, that's a no-brainer

Was close to switching from Quantum Fiber and then saw the upload speed and latency differences. Going to stay with the fiber for the extra $20 to keep the kids gaming where they like it.

Last month I asked for a better deal when my bill showed an increase from $60/800mbps to $89. I chatted in the app and they got me 1gig for $65, with a 5-year lock. I actually just asked for this deal and they said what I got was the best deal available.

Anyway, worth asking.

Also, they must have changed their customer service people, because six months ago they couldn't understand anything I was asking about and even their "supervision" as awful. Last month and just now, they were actually incredibly helpful and quick about it.

I signed up for a new service about a month ago same deal but $65/month. After I saw this post I chatted with Xfinity customer support and they were able to apply this deal to my account. Great saving of $15 so thank you OP.

You can cancel your original internet account the day after it's installed.

As in once the new service is installed and confirmed to work call and say you want to cancel asap because of whatever bs reason you got.

Did this when transferring service to a different person in household.

--

That is unless you are also transferring phone service, in which case you should cancel after the numbers are successfully ported.

Asking since you seem you might know - is a Docsis 3.1 all that is needed for this next gen you speak of? I dropped Xfinity a few years back due to balloon in cost and went with Cheaper T-Mobile wireless internet, good speeds but the latency kills when I game...Buuut if I can lock in 5 years of good price with Xfinity I still have two Docsis 3.1 modems (Arris S33 and a Netgear CM1200) that are both Docsis 3.1 - wouldnt that work just fine or is that old tech and I should be looking for something different?) I see the one you mentioned appears to be a Docsis 3.1 as well.
I also have my own modem but I am using Xfinity provided router because it also have built in MoCa capability.

You can buy a separate adapter for Moca and in other part of your house where you have Coax port convert it to LAN speed. Helps with your at home office .

My setup is Xfinity router in basement and then used eero mesh ..turned wifi off on Xfinity.

Used moca upstairs so basement and upstairs is hard wired technically

Also with Xfinity router I believe they do MoCa 2.0..so if you get a dual MoCa 2.5 adapter you can get almost full speed on LAN where the 2nd adapter is connected.

Or else just use wifi mesh ..I get 500, 600 speed on wifi everywhere...900, 950 when near the gateway router

Currently using Xfinity NOW $30/mo. 100mb/sec. No taxes. Unlimited data.
I stream IPTV and my kids do PC gaming/youtube. Heavy usage and the speed is plenty.
Not sure why the average user thinks they need 1gb.

Oh yes, I know well! I used to be a long time Comcast/Xfinity customer and had for the longest wired my homes via combo of moca and powerline because it beat wifi mesh hands down for stability and latency.

This most recent home I had originally gone full mesh because it was an older build so difficult to get cat 6 run and only SOME of the cable wire worked with MOCA (there is some very substandard wiring that was used in the home and in some places I think it was terminated behind a wall when someone renovated parts of the house)

Anyways was checking in to say I am happy with current setup so far - full gig download speed and latency has been so much better than T-mobile which has made our online gaming less painful lol

Paying $70 for 400MB and the cheapest 5 year option they offer me is 300MB for $70, so it's sorta a no brainer to switch via this deal. I wish I could get your deal but I cant.
