It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

If I have my own modem/router, can I still get there's just in case there is issues since free?

Or will they not activate if I have there's but run my own? Can't wait to ditch their overpriced cable cause platinum means nothing...internet is a great deal tho!

You can activate your own even if you get one of their own modem/router.

I just signed up for xfinity after moving to our new place because they have monopoly over the area. I was previously with ATT for their 1 gig Fiber internet and miss it dearly mainly for the parallel upload speeds because my wife and I both work from home. I'm going to try and get this deal and keep ituntil ATT or some other provider offers fiber internet.

I'm currently in 500Mbps for $70/month that I started mid-October. I just used the new customer method described above and I signed up for 500Mbps for $45/month. The new plan has a different account number. I got a email saying "Your Xfinity accounts are now linked." When I log onto my account, I only see the $70/month account. Should I call Xfinity now or wait a day?

For some reason, the website doesn't allow me to proceed after I enter my address and just throws a "sorry about that, we had a problem with our site" message. Anyone else had this and know how to proceed?

Also, does anyone know if I call and sign up for an account under my spouse's name, would it autocancel my current service?

The easiest way to get this deal as a current customer is to just go through the entire process as a new customer, with all the same credentials, and then sign in at the end vs create a new account. It will then ask you to merge accounts, and once the order is completed support will give you a call to get the cancellation of your now former account in motion. Once you get the modem in the mail, if you're not using your own, and activate your new account give CS a call and set the cancellation to be effective immediately.
I've never heard of anyone getting a call regarding cancelation of the original account. Has anyone else received this call? How soon after you sign up for the new service do you get a call, and from what number?

So close!

Seems you have to have the phone line to apply the MC50 promo?

Any way to make it stick, really don't need another phone line :/ but I'd love the $50 lol

Shouldn't need a phone line -- just new internet service

MC50 gives $50 prepaid card but you can try GIFT100 instead for $100 prepaid card

Use an online cash back portal -- probably get $25 c/b for ordering internet service

This depends on your area, in some neighborhoods they're already advertising 300/300mpbs, 500/500mpbs, 1/1gbps and 2/2gbps symmetrical speeds so I assume they're finally offering FTTH in order to compete with Att and verizon, not to say they were finally forced to get rid of data caps
It's not FTTH, it's the next gen docsis

Can anyone confirm you have to set autopay to bank account rather than credit card? I'm paying $65 for 1gb DL that I set up ~50-55 days ago. I'm able to autopay with cc right now though. Would be well worth it for me to try switching but I'd prefer the cc charge lol

The requirement to get discount is to setup autopay with bank account AND NOT pay with bank account. So you can always pay early with CC first before the autopay happen.

are you sure they will call us to merge the accounts ? will existing credits be carried over to the new account ?
They called me to cancel the old account right after I signed up for this new deal, not to merge.
I just activated my new account today and called in to cancel the old one with no problem. Make sure you give them your old account number so they don't happen to cancel the new one.
so far so good.

One more Q. Do these list prices include taxes and fees?

and because I can't manage scrolling 60+ pages of comments of my phone...
do they for sure wave the $40 self installation fee? or do I need to just accept their equipment. I already have my own stuff

ok I'm seeing a 1.50 monthly taxes and fees charge.

$65 for their 1gig or 71.50 for their 2gig🤔🤔
Could easily just pocked the $13.50 a month and keep my current 1 gig but might want to future proof my connection

For existing customers, you don't need to create a new account, you don't have to cancel old account. Simply go to the offer, log in, change plans, and select this plan and go through the order procedures. Xfinity has simplified changing plans. I have done this in the past and just did it today. Was paying $65 for 1 gig, now my next bill estimate is showing up as $50. Again no cancelling is required, no equipment return required, simply login to your account and change plan.
I can't believe that just worked. I've spent hours fighting for my $70 2GB plan and I just resolved it within seconds.I saw there was talk of a $50 Visa gift card, but didn't wanna press my luck. Curious if the code MC50 would've worked for me though
