It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

I'm trying to decide between 1 gig or 2 gig speeds. 1 is likely enough for now but 2 might be preferred a couple years down the line and I don't see them letting us upgrade for this cheap once the promo is over.

Any hacks to get this for current subscriber?
Don't know if this will work, but I went to the store with the modem and all wires ready to cancel if they didn't match. showed them the competitors price, they didn't even budge . Been with them for 4 years

I'm currently in 500Mbps for $70/month that I started mid-October. I just used the new customer method described above and I signed up for 500Mbps for $45/month. The new plan has a different account number. I got a email saying "Your Xfinity accounts are now linked." When I log onto my account, I only see the $70/month account. Should I call Xfinity now or wait a day?
Go to accounts on Xfinity app and scroll to the bottom, you should see a Switch Account button. Need to click to view the new account and back and forth. Both accounts if linked to same id, can view it one at a time.

Super helpful, thanks for sharing.Similar situation, need professional installation. How did you find 1 gig 1 year option ? I only see 5 year option online.
In my case, I was able to see both 1-year and 5-year options when I clicked "shop now" link. But, as many have alluded to, these things may be specific to one's locality. An alternative way may be the following: go to https://www.xfinity.com/learn/internet-service. In the middle of the page, there are various options that you can choose (# of years, speed, Xfinity Mobile Plan, how many (mobile) lines, etc). At least that's what I'm seeing in Portland, OR. Hope this helps! Good luck!

You can just do it online. Don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then continue with all selections and towards the end on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead and login to your existing id. Finish the selections and Order, it will link new account to existing id. Just make sure you cancel your old account later, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

This depends on your area, in some neighborhoods they're already advertising 300/300mpbs, 500/500mpbs, 1/1gbps and 2/2gbps symmetrical speeds so I assume they're finally offering FTTH in order to compete with Att and verizon, not to say they were finally forced to get rid of data caps
My mate Paul says they charge more for upload speed because of gravity

I don't see a "Switch Account" button in the app.
When I log onto my Xfinity account either in app or on website, I only see the old account. There is no option to view the new account (which has a different account number).
However on the main webpage there is banner stating:
"We're getting your order ready — simple and seamless WiFi is coming soon - Make sure to download the Xfinity app to set up your internet as soon as your order arrives."
However, I chose to use my own device, so there isn't anything "arriving."

Any ideas what the phone line will cost after 1 year? 1gbps + 2 phone lines for $70 a month is a no brainer upgrade from my current $50 for internet + $100 for two TMobile lines

Xfinity is misleading. It's not fiber.

I've never heard of anyone getting a call regarding cancelation of the original account. Has anyone else received this call? How soon after you sign up for the new service do you get a call, and from what number?
I got a call, I think it was the day after I signed up for the 5-year price locked service using the start the sign up as a new customer to get the deal but then log into an existing account at the end to order trick. The customer service agent stated that you can't have two active accounts at the same residential address and if I would like to cancel the old account and on what date I wanted it to be effective. After the call I got an e-mail with the subject line "We received your cancellation request" confirming the cancellation of my old account and the effective date for end of service.

MC50 would not apply, but GIFT100 worked. Dropping my service from 2.1G/300M to 2G/250M but saving $60/month and locking the rate in for 5 years is absolutely worth it.

From previous, long time ago posts, that's doable. Just hard for me to do at this point cuz I have 3 phones in bill credits for 7 more months. They will add $20/mo I think, if you don't have internet.
