It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

How would this work if we have xfinity mobile phone numbers to port in?
It's a little more annoying, but possible. I did it a couple years ago. Once the old Internet account is canceled (it will auto cancel when you sign up for the new plan; you'll receive emails confirming it), you need to call into Mobile and have them transfer the account/lines to the new Internet account. There will be some confusion on their end, but keep pushing and it will eventually get transferred over. You should keep an eye on the Mobile account for a bit afterwards to make sure it is all assigned to the new Internet account. I did this with 5 or 6 lines, some on credits, and it worked out and I got a $20/m Gig internet for 2yrs, which will be ending in a few months, so I may have to do this all over again. Good luck and report back with your experience!

Anyone under a current "no contract " month to month being able to get this ?
I'm on a current month to month $70/month 1 gig internet plan only .
They said the best they can do is 500mg/ month ; peacock; 1 yr mobile for $70 a month or 1gb for $85 since I'm a current customer and then would increased to $135 after 1 year .
I'd be all over this current promotion coupled with the trade in to get a 17 pro for 2 years of credits.
They've said there is no longer a retentions department. I've been on the phone with billing for several phone calls and I've been on live chat. Best I've gotten is this $70 per month deal

Unsurprisingly, this is extremely misleading advertising from Comcast. This is NOT Fiber internet as you're still connected via coax cable, and upload speeds are a tenth of download speeds. As someone who once exclusively used Comcast for personal internet/TV as well as internet/phones at multiple business offices, please reconsider using Comcast Xfinity service if you have any other option (except Windstream or an affiliate) available in your area. Their customer service is atrocious, it's extremely difficult to connect with a knowledgeable person when there's a problem (and there will be problems), their hidden fees are outrageous, and they're inflexible if you need to move office locations or to a new home that requires one to break the "locked-in" terms agreement. They're just a shady, unscrupulous company, and their ostensible "1 Gig FIBER Internet" promotion that isn't actually FIBER internet perfectly illustrates this.

wondering if we can transfer to a spouse?
Definitely doable. I have a connection every even year, and my Spouse has a connection every odd year. We have been doing this for a long time. Even the local shop owner knows what we are doing, but doesn't care.

So was the new Xfinity modem you got today the same model as the one you returned? I'm wondering if you can just use the same network SSID name and passwords when hooking up the 'new' Xfinity and if all your devices will automatically reconnect to the new modem?
Yeah, same model gateway. The Xfinity app showed an option to set the WiFi network name and password to something you already have/use, so that should work like pechango mentioned. I use bridge mode though, so I turn off their WiFi and have my own UniFi network and WiFi which stays the same for me.

Does this mean we're in a 5 year contract? Are we subject to termination fees if we cancel after one or two years?
"5-Year Price Guarantee. Enjoy our best internet price for all 5 years, no annual contract." So no termination fee.

Options for the following scenerio?

So I recently cancelled my (1) gig Xfinity service in my name and we ordered service in my spouses name for the (5) year price lock deal for $65 per month and we were given an XB8 which has worked out well for us. This was about two months ago. Fast forward and now I see Xfinity is offering the (5) year price lock with (1) gig for $50 per month. $15 over 5 years is like $900 so that's not thing to me.

Reading through the thread it seems that some folks have been able to sign up for the new plan either under their own name (existing account) or under someone one else in the household. I'm open to either option but ideally I would like to not have to mess around with returning our existing XB8 and picking up and installing a new XB8. It sounds like some people who signed up and had existing Xfinity service now have two accounts at the same address so not sure how well that will work out in the end.

I haven't logged into my spouses account yet to see if the $50 deal is available even though they currently have the $65 deal. I guess I can do that and if the $50 deal is available for her maybe I'll try and order service under her name again? I would think since it's been a couple of months since I cancelled my (1) gig service that the $50 deal is probably available to me so that's an option too. Again ideally I would like to just get my spouse on the $50 deal without having to swap out XB8's etc. so I kind of waiting to see what everyone is doing in this situation....
On my spouses account we had the Gigabit plan for $60/month w/included XB8 gateway with 1 year price guarantee - this was from around March 2025 before they introduced the 5 year guarantee. It only showed us an upgrade to 2 Gbps for about $120 per month. When we toggled 5 year price guarantee, the 1 Gig plan was still about $110/month. I contacted them on Reddit before and they didn't have any deals for 5 year.
I would login to your spouses account and see if there are any promos available or message them on Reddit or chat with them and see if they have any loyalty options. My experience in the past is sometimes the existing customer can get new customer price if you're willing to upgrade speed and pay more than currently paying. Existing customer trying to change a plan and pay them less b/c of new customer pricing rarely was an option they had for me.

This worked for me, thanks! I actually signed up for the 2GB plan with 5 year price guarantee for $95/month earlier this year, but $50 for 1GB is a much better deal since I basically never see (or need) 2GB download speeds. Hopefully there's no issues with canceling my existing plan.

Depends on where you live apparently. They do have 1gb upload if they upgraded the lines in your area.

Excellent deal! I've been having to cancel and sign up again every year or two. I noticed this year, my 1 year price contract expired in June but they extended it for another year without any action for me (original statement said expired Jun 2025, but after that it updated to Jun 2026).

I see my area is $50 for 1Gbit and a new plan/speed of $70 for 2Gbit with twice the upload (125mbit it vs 250mbit).
Of course i signed up for the 2000/250 plan, cheaper than the $75 i was paying before for 1000/125.

Thanks!!

I don't think the phone line is required. Not too long ago I got a deal with the lines and I never did anything with them.
However the wording is not very clear. I read the $25 fee is if you don't have other xfinity services active.
WAIT: I might be wrong. Just logged into my account and it does state something about having to get that line to continue "saving" on internet. That's messed up.
Quote from rwong48 :
Buy as a new customer with the same address. (different phone number and email can help.) The existing service at the same address will get disconnected automatically (service will remain up long enough to receive and set up the new one).

I found activation to be easier with their gateway and mobile app than with my own modem. I've given up on bringing my own modem if they keep offering theirs for free and I can put it in bridge mode. This used to be tied to unlimited data as well (which is a requirement for me) but it seems that's now just freely available (finally).

Worth switching now, since my current 2-year price guarantee is up in a few months, and I will have to inevitably deal with signing up again. Currently I've had autopay with a bank account but have been paying manually monthly with credit card. (Maybe that will still work?)

Just don't get sucked in to 36-month mobile bill credits. The free mobile line is only for 12 months and they no longer give an internet discount for having a mobile line (used to be $-40/month for 24 months which perfectly offset the $40/month mobile line cost, basically making the phone free plus taxes). And be very careful about porting your real number since they make it a pain to go in and out, you can treat it like a data line. It might work out for some people but it's mostly a trap. But if you really want Xfinity Mobile and are willing to stick around that long, it can be worth getting a new line promo. Even with $830 credit you'll still be paying $10+/month for 12 months and $50+/month for 24 months for premium unlimited. And being unable to unlock for 36 months (without forfeiting bill credits) is killer.

My area is:
$40 300/100 (this was $40 1-year and $55 5-year)
$45 500/100 (this was $55 1-year and $70 5-year)
$50 1000/100 (this was $70 1-year and $85 5-year)
$70 2000/250 (this was $100 1-year and $115 5-year)
I'm new to Xfinity, do you leave the mobile line selected and ignore it at some later point (ie activation), or do you deselect it when you are picking the bundle?

There's some additional CB for adding service bundles, I assume the phone is one, but this is offset by that ridiculous $25 activation fee. I don't have any interest in getting roped into a scam, thanks for the great advice so far!

For current customers, who signed up with a family member name and cancelled existing account. did xfinity give you trouble activating the existing modem? last time xfinity told me i have to wait 24 hours to decouple the modem from old account.
