It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

tried xfinity chat to switch to $50 plan, denied.
said - its only for new customers
Did the same thing with same result (I contacted them thru chat when I got error message after submitting order). Then, I hit back button on error page, submitted again and it went thru. Modem already shipped, will be delivered tomorrow.

You could have merged (linked) the account without doing all that. I kept same account number and it gave me an option to link or create a new profile.
So you were able to keep the same account number? Were you able to accomplish this online? Did you get to keep the same Xfinity modem or did you have to get a new modem?

So you had to get a new modem?

You can use your own modem. Their modem is free and my existing modem is too old to support 1GB speed.

Yup, all done online, they added a new account number & kept same gateway (modem/router).

I wasn't even disconnected from the router which usually happens when they apply a new plan with different speeds, but I suppose that didn't happen since I already had the 1GB speed plan.

I've been an Xfinity customer for 17 years, I called the 800-266-2278 and told them about the deal and without any issues, after 40 minutes I was all set.

It took a while because the rep stated he had to refresh their system. I would suggest you call during business hours and not on the weekends. Good luck.

OP thumbs up & repped.
Existing customer here and used your route, but got denied; been with them for over slightly 15yrs, they said they couldn't find that offer for me. I might have to disconnect and reconnect cause the online option isn't working (getting stuck on a validate identity page).

Does everyone think this will be as good as it gets in terms of pricing? I hate setting up the internet so hopefully this is one and done!
If you purchase the bundle deal today can you start the internet, but delay the activation of the phone line until later? I have 2 months left on my current phone plan and want to keep that number and transfer to xfinity?
Anyone see good deals for phones from xfinity? Can we do promos for phones with this deal?
I should really just call them or go to the store but it's so painful…

Did the spouse switch. Kept my equipment, didn't select phone.

What exactly is a self install kit when not taking their equipment?

Also got a disconnect email to my email for disconnection of service. Which I didn't ask for. And had no date.

So what's next? Do I make a move?

I did the same thing like yours. New account showing will ship the kit, received two emails mentioned service cancellation for the old account, but no last service date.

in my case not only xfinity denied this plan but also claimed if i leave i have to pay a contract breaking fee of $10 per month for remainder of the contract period. They are offering this plan for me but only 12 months not 5 years. Not sure if I can do the alternate account people suggest here since I may pay a fee to break contract. Anyone had this experience and found a solution?

Be careful with making a new account. They will send you an e-mail telling you they auto-cancel your old account if you do the new account method, but sometimes they won't really cancel it. I did this method before and got the cancelation e-mail for the old account automatically from them saying they would cancel the old account, but realized 3 months later they were still charging the old account. I called them up and they said there was never a cancelation request, but a move service request, which I never requested.

Their bill statements say "You have 120 days from the date of this bill to dispute any charges included on this bill.". So make sure you keep an eye on your payment methods, as I caught it right before the deadline to dispute.

Peacock Premium still has ads. The "free" phone might also have tax. That said, this is a great deal if you have Xfinity fiber in your area. The $40 for 300/300 is plenty for most people/families doing streaming/gaming. They give you up to a $200 (or $100 for slower plans) gift card if you do a 1-year deal instead of 5-year.T-mobile fiber has their 10-year $70 for 2000/2000 (overkill for most people), but they don't offer a $40 for 300/300 in all areas and their 500/500 (or 1000/1000 current offer for 500/500 price) is $55 only if you have a Tmo cell phone. Here's an example from an Xfinity fiber area:
Sounds interesting! But where do you see those $200 (or $100 for slow plans) gift cards? I can't locate that offer for 1-year

So, for those who have been on lower plans and dont have a modem that supports gig speeds, do you have to wait for the new equipment to set up the new service?

I assume one shouln't cancel the existing plan before you receive the equipmet and set it up? Otherwise you'll just lose service right away and wont be able to set up the new one without the hardware

As mentioned previously I had cancelled (1) gig internet at Xfinity in my name around two months ago and we signed up under the spouses name to for (1) gig with the (5) year price lock for $65. Now they are offering $50 for (5) years but when we log in under the spouses account we are not seeing the option to switch to the $50 deal as some have reported seeing. The only option they show under my spouse is to pay even more for 1.2 Gbps service so that's a no go.

Even though I cancelled my (1) gig account around two months ago when I log with my old credentials I do see the $50 (5) year (1) gig price lock deal. Kind of a pain but I guess the only option is for me to order service under my name for the $50 deal and get a new XB8 and then we cancel the $65 deal under the wife's name and return that XB8. Kind of a pain but not too bad - that $15 per month difference is like $900 over (5) years and I have better things to do with $900 than give it to Xfinity.

I do see that some folks were able to log in towards the end of the ordering process with their existing account and get the deal but then a lot of times it sounds like that creates two accounts in the same name at that address and we would most likely have to return the current XB8 and pick up a new one under that scenerio as well.

I assume it's possible to cancel our existing service at the local Xfinity store while I am picking up the new XB8 correct?

That scenario sounds like SOP for these things.

The customer retention route might be worth a shot. Call and tell them you want to cancel. It's a phone call that might save you some time and hassle
