It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

Any luck with Chat getting them to price match to $50 from your $65? I am almost the same situation, I got the $65 1 gig 5year lock a few months ago. I have had their XB7 for the last several years on various 1gig promo plans, am a Diamond customer. Don't really want to go through account/gateway etc swap.
Actually I haven't tried it yet but plan on giving it a go today. Did you happen to try getting them to price match at all? I'll let you know how and it goesSmilie

Well I just tried to get my recent $65 deal price matched to the $50 (1) gig deal but chat was unable to help me. They kept saying all they could see is my current $65 deal I recently signed up for. I guess my next step is to sign up online for the $50 deal either under the same name again or my spouses name. Not sure what the better route to go is as I really would like to keep the XB8 we have now as it's all set up and not have to swap it out for a 'new' XB8.

Instead of doing all this, why not just sign up with wife's name, receive the equipment, activate the new internet service and THEN cancel the previous a/c on our name! At the most there will be a "double" billing for a day at the most (i.e. charged on both accounts) but that should be like $3 at the most !

Isn't this kind of a "cleaner" way to avoid confusion?
The comment I was replying to asked about how to transfer existing Mobile lines, which don't automatically get switched to the new plan with any of these new customer workarounds.

I started with "move, new customer" and went through all the screens. But, didn't see a chance to sign in before clicking "submit order". Do you log in to your account after you submit the order? Thanks!
I just did with a different email address. Once I receive the new gateway I'll transfer my cell line to the new account and then cancel the existing account. Should be smooth I hope !BYWNO $200 GC this time correct?

Saved so much money with this deal. We were paying $70 for 500mb. Future billings shows $52!!! Was able to add the plan to existing account using "move to this address as a new customer," while NOT logged in to Xfinity. You'll like be asked to make a new account later in the process (after selecting plan/add-ons and, in the same page, there is a link for existing customers says "Sign in now"). Submitted the order and 2 accounts appeared under my name. Was shipped a new modem and once set up, canceled old account through chat. Be sure to have the old account number ready for them to make the process smoother.

Well I tried chat again to get them to adjust my recently signed $65 (1) gig (5) year deal but they told me the same thing that they can't see this new $50 (1) gig deal. I guess at this point I'm stuck with having my spouse order new service and having to swap out equipment and all that fun stuff. Kind of a pain but worth it to save $900 over (5) years and just be done with this crap for a bit.

I could try signing up again for the $50 deal where you login at end but that sounds like it will create (2) accounts under the same name where I would have to still get new equipment and return the old equipment so not sure what the best option is, lol.

How did the conversation go? Did they ask how you have two internet accounts at the same address or anything similar?

Chat did not work for me either trying to go to $50 from $65. They indicated the $50 plan did not show as an option to change to for an existing customer. They suggested calling Loyalty department. So appears try to do the sign on at end online, or go Instore to cancel and do new account

Not at all. I said something like "I have 2 accounts and I'd like to cancel 1. Here's the account number xxx... I kept the conversation short and was very polite.

Yes that stinks for both of us but honestly I figured it wouldn't be that easy, lol. Do you happen to use Xfinity's equipment already? We got an XB8 when we signed up for the $65 deal and it's actually been fine for us. My issue is I really don't want to have to return this XB8 just to get another 'new' XB8 but I think I'll probably have to whether I do the sign in at the end deal online (this creating two accounts) or cancel and do a new account. I think in either scenario I would still have to get new equipment and return the old equipment?

Yes, currently have XB7, that works perfectly fine. I wouldn't mind swap to XB8, but my other issue is I have a X1 tv box and a Cablecard that would need returned. Getting the Cablecard configured on their end, years ago, was a total nightmare until a Tier3 tech got involved. Not sure I want to fight that battle again.

FYI, $10 out of the $50 is dependent on setting up autopay with bank account (not credit card). So, it would be $60 otherwise. Also, upload speeds are around 100 Mbps over coax for this plan, and latency is around 14 milliseconds.
The only workaround I've found is to manually pay your bill 6 business days before it should debit your checking account. The payment clears on your account so by the time the debit payment is due, the account has a $0 balance. You can prepay up to 60 days from current date so I always do 2 months at a time in case I forget one month. I have a reminder set on my iPhone.

Xfinity has Fiber now? I left them for AT&T due to how disappointed I was with Xfinity cable service of not getting what I paid for and their rising prices. Then they played around when I threaten to leave and didn't care at all.

I checked ot see if Xfinity offered service in my area, Dallas, TX. They forwarded me to Spectrum, who I left for AT&T. I am happy with AT&T's service, but they keep raising rates, and lowering autopay discounts.

I am tempted to go to Spectrum, about $25/mo. cheaper for 500G service, versus my 300G seervice at AT&T, although that is for "fiber powered internet", which is fiber to the neighborhood, not the home. I believe I can cancel anytime, since there is no contract, if the performance has not improved.

I would be interested if they offer a discount while cancelling, and see if they offer a gift card offer when I come back, if they don't.

Existing customer using Xfinity's XB8 - any options to keep my current XB8 while switching to the new $50 deal? It sounds to me like I'll have to sign up as a new customer and get a 'new' XB8 or generate a second account under my existing customer which would still require me to get a 'new XB8 and return my 'old' XB8. Not a huge deal but I would really like to avoid having to swap out XB8 devices if at all possible.

Also this deal includes (2) years of Peacock Premium - has anyone who jumped on this $50 (1) gig (5) year deal been able to successfully activate their (2) years of Peacock? I see a lot of postings about people not being able to successfully activate their free Peacock and Xfinity saying they are aware of the issue and are working on itFrown

Thank you. This is the first time I am dealing with Xfinity customer service, and they don't have a very good reputation. So, trying to keep it straight and short as well.
Happy Holidays
