It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

I ordered service online last night... didn't wait for email or text to pickup the modem. Went into the store, got the modem, but seems like that rep created a whole new account - is that normal?

Is the rep trying to get commission off me? It seems like I lost the $50 gift card + whatever cash back I might have gotten from a portal if that's the case...

Also, my order confirmation doesn't seem to show that it has the 5 year guarantee locked on my 300mbps plan - did the rep screw something up by just having me go in store to pickup the modem/gateway?
So was your modem ready for pickup when you got to the store or did the rep get one from the back and proceed to create a new account for you? I plan on ordering online in the spouses name but I'll make sure I get the order ready for pickup message and that the order clearly shows the (5) year price lock deal. Hopefully they didn't screw something up for you.

I just went ahead and go to store without a ready pickup email/text since it's been more than 12 hours of ordering...

The guy just went to back of the store and grabbed a modem, asked if I wanted to upgrade to the 1 gig speed - told him no. I have no idea what he was doing beside telling me it would take a few minutes.

Never trust a sales rep in store I should say.

I ended up initiating a chat and then have a agent call me to confirm pricing/locked for 5 years and cancel the other account that was associated with my name/address and told me I will not be double charged.

All was told good - just that I might have missed out on the $50 gift card (code MC50) and any cash back associated with my initial order at this point.

Thanks for this thread.. it's now saving me $3200 over the next 5 years Smilie
What I used to pay = $104 for Plan: Speed = 1 G and limited data 1 T with overage charges.
I signed up for this deal using the same account (said moving in to the house or something like that) and ended up placing a new order. I do see 2 accounts when I login in now. I called the CS to make sure they had the old account for cancellation. I ensured that the CS activated the new plan on the modem. (you can also do this from the app yourself).
I do not have any phone connection with them and use my own modem (Hitron)
in 5 years 1bps will be cheaper for $50 a month.. so youll be paying less and count on it.

Same name, same phone number. Two account number (1 created online by me yesterday for ordering; the other created by that sales rep...).

Just tried on the website and able to get this plan for existing user AS LONG AS you don't login to your account INCLUDE DO NOT click on any login link (with email/password) during checkout.

After you type in your address and see this new internet plan (1 Gig internet for $50), continue checkout following new account steps.
And when need to type in your info, just type the same info as your existing account like email, name, phone number, etc during checkout BUT DO NOT login to your account using login link with email/password at all. Eventually, because you type in the same email and phone number, etc, as existing account, it will ask to verify your account by either verify using the Xfinity App or send text message to your phone number, etc. And once you verify your info using something like text message, it will have access to your payment information in your existing account and let you continue and complete the check out (using the same payment saved in your existing email/user account).

May be other people can verify if checkout like this will actually works?

I think if you click on the confirmation email to check your account, you will see TWO Xfinity internet accounts associate with the same email login account.

Is that everywhere? When I look at the broadband facts for the 1 gig plan it shows 1186 down, 1118 up, and 8ms.

I've currently got 400/400 for $45 price lock to June of 2026. Can anybody recommend if I should just stay with what I have until then and hope there is a deal at that time, or go ahead and change to this $50 plan now to price lock at that rate for the next 5 years?

I was able to find the offer $50 a month for 1 gbps 5 year plan by doing these steps as an existing customer. But then I cancelled the entire process, opened a new private window, and put in my address again. Now, I don't see any plan but a prepaid plan. I used other addresses in my area and nothing is showing any internet plan.

Will it still work if I have a 500 Mbps plan now? Any idea if my current service will be interrupted until I receive the new equipment?
Yes it will. It took 4 days from order to receiving new equipment in my case and my service worked to the moment I swapped modems. After activating new service, I returned old modem and was told my old account was cancelled (I believe, when you activate new service at the same address they automatically cancel old one) . You can also pick new modem at Xfinity store, but I didn't want to drive there twice (I didn't want to return old modem just in case there are any issues activating new one).

Same thing is happening for me. I wonder if they caught on and closed the loophole for existing customers? Tried with different browsers, cleared cookies, VPN, etc... no luck.

I think the offer will not show if there is an existing xfinity service at that address.

If there is exist Xfinity service for that address, when type in that address, it will have the login link for existing customer. And someone mentioned they tried few address around them and some of the address is not existing customer (no login link), BUT the only plan available for all the addresses they tried are Prepaid 100 plan.
May be their server is doing some kind of maintenance Sunday night and no longer can access the New Postpaid Xfinity deals?

Thank you. I just placed my order this evening and am waiting for the new equipment to ship. I didn't get the option to pick up at the store, it was only available for shipping. When I first signed up for the service 2-3 years ago, I was given the option to pick up at the local store.
