It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

I was able to switch to this plan within the Apps; at the end, it showed submit the order, not the check out. So I didn't have the chance to add the promotion code to get $50.
xfinity says the offer is only for new customers so how are existing account holders are able to get in the offer?

TIA
Open the cart on the right-hand pane of the screen before checkout, scroll downs down and in the "Promo Code" field type MC50 to receive a $50 prepaid virtual card. A popup will say promo code entered if you do it right.

Sad I'm moving back to somewhere where Xfinity is the only option for Internet. At least this seems like an ok deal from a horrible company

Just called and they said new customers only.
I did the same about 2 weeks ago. Xfinity refused to give me the deal so I scheduled a disconnect date 2 weeks into the future. Signed up with AT&T 1gb fiber for $55/month. Then decided to give Xfinity another try, and they let me have the $50/month plan as a new customer. Cancelled the AT&T before it got installed, then shipped back my old Xfinity modem and Xumo box when the new Xfinity modem and Xumo box arrived. Very dumb game they want to play, but hey- I love playing games so game on! $50/month no contract for 5 years is great! I'm getting 1200 download speed and 120 upload speed. I upgraded my mesh wifi to Orbi Wifi 7 to take advantage of the faster speeds. So far so good.

In the app, find " manage your plan", then you will see the $50 plan.

There is, however, it is a bit timely. Unlike everyone else saying to sign up as a new customer, that option doesn't work for a lot of people in certain areas. As Comcast website is location-based some will have the option some won't. So to get this offer or any available I've done this for almost 20 years and it always works.
For those that has existing Xfinity internet plan and want to still use your existing email/USERID to get the new customer 1Gig Internet (5-year price lock) deal, the trick is DO NOT login to your account USER ID and password when you click on the link in the post.

Just tried sign up the New customers 1Gig Internet plan on the website linked and able to get this plan for existing user AS LONG AS you don't login to your existing account INCLUDE DO NOT click on any login link (with email/password) during checkout.

One easy way is use Incognito/private windows of browser to signup for the plan.

- After you type in your address and see this new internet plan (1 Gig internet for $50), continue checkout following new account steps. (Again, DO NOT LOG IN)
- And when need to type in your info, just type the same info as your existing account like email, name, phone number, etc during checkout AND DO NOT login to your account using login link with email/password at all.
- Eventually, because you type in the same email and phone number, etc, as existing account, it will ask to verify your account by either verify using the Xfinity App or send text message to your phone number, etc.
- And once you verify your info using something like text message, the checkout process will have access to your payment information in your existing account and let you continue and complete the check out (using the same payment info like Checking account/credit card saved in your existing email/user account).

If you click on the confirmation email to check your account, you will see TWO Xfinity internet accounts associate with the same email login account.

After logout of the account on the website and the App, then try log back in again, when try to manage your internet plan, you can see a new option which you can select either your old internet plan or new internet plan. Select the newer Xfinity internet account to activate it and verify the internet account detail.

If you checkout and has your own modem that is compatible with this plan (could be the same modem you are currently using with the old plan), you can activate the new plan right away and can get the faster speed right away since you don't need to wait for the modem from them

I ended up just ordering under myself for the $50 (5) year deal and got the order pickup confirmation for the new modem. We are on the $65 per month (5) year (1) gig plan under my wife so figured I would have to swap out XB8's even if I ordered under her account thus creating two accounts under her name - I figured this might create less confusion but we'll see.

My plan is to use the same SSID and passwords that we currently have set up on our existing XB8 on the 'new' XB8 that I'm going to pickup and install. My hope is that all my devices will just work as in theory they should be we'll see. Once I get the 'new' XB8 up and running I will cancel our current service under the wife's name via the app and return that XB8 back to our local Xfinity store. Sounds easy but finger's crossedSmilie

Read the post above, for most (if not all) people, they won't see the $50 new customer promo plan in "manage your plan" section if they already login to their account and has existing internet plan. Only way to see the $50 new customer plan if they ARE NOT login to their account and need to check out using new account process as describe in previous post above (while enter existing account info like email, name, phone number, etc during checkout WITHOUT logging in using userid/password). The most important thing for those people able to get the new plan with exiting email/userid ID is to NOT login to your existing account by clicking on any login link during check out process. So logout of your account if you already login or use Incognito/private windows of browser to signup for the plan. Read the previous post for more detail.

How is upload important unless you're running a server or working on cloud files constantly?
