It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

That is a true statement. However, Xfinity is a monopoly in many areas. Sure, one can get fixed wireless internet, but you are not going to get 1Gbps on those services.
Lol I love the Comcast haters. I live in Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania and service electric had a monopoly for 70 years. Comcast is a million times better. I'm paying sixty a month for 800 Meg internet while service electric charges 58 for 100 Meg. In 27 months my signal hasn't gone down once.

I used to hate them because I had to call every 2-3 months to fight another rate hike. They've improved that considerably in the last couple of years. I am irritated that they can't offer a 25-year customer the same deal as a newbie, but I'll jump through their hoops to save $64/mo.

I agree. All these companies who do this are annoying because they won't give it up loyal customers and ya gotta play the cancel and put it in another person's name game. At least Comcast will activate it without someone coming if you already have the line ran. Service electric forced you to have a tech come out no matter what

Do you not use your own modem? Mostoeople here don't use xfinity provided modem/router.

Has anyone here who recently jumped on the $50 (1) gig deal got their (2) years of free Peacock to successfully activate? If so how did you do it? App or website?

Thanks! Based on the feedback here, this time I chatted with live agent to activate service on new line.

The agent saw both my old device and new MAC ID I provided were same. Seems they know the drill by now 😆 Removed my own modem from old line, added to new line and activated service!
Didn't ask a single question similar to last time I did this few years back. New line activated. Old account disconnected.

As people mentioned, the key here is to activate the new line. Chat with live agent or call them.

For those in major cities with access to Astound, I highly recommend them. Got the deal that included 1GB up/down for $40 for life, a $400 Amazon gift card if you take the 1-year free mobile line, and they included Eero 6e routers for the free Wi-Fi rental. I've had the service for almost three months, and it has been rock solid.

Use coupon code MC50 in your cart to also get a $50 prepaid MasterCard gift card with your signup.
Did you see any confirmation line for the prepaid gift card in the email they sent out?

For those that has existing Xfinity internet plan and want to still use your existing email/USERID to get the new customer 1Gig Internet (5-year price lock) deal, the trick is DO NOT login to your account USER ID and password when you click on the link in the post.

Just tried sign up the New customers 1Gig Internet plan on the website linked and able to get this plan for existing user AS LONG AS you don't login to your existing account INCLUDE DO NOT click on any login link (with email/password) during checkout.

One easy way is use Incognito/private windows of browser to signup for the plan.

- After you type in your address and see this new internet plan (1 Gig internet for $50), continue checkout following new account steps. (Again, DO NOT LOG IN)
- And when need to type in your info, just type the same info as your existing account like email, name, phone number, etc during checkout AND DO NOT login to your account using login link with email/password at all.
- Eventually, because you type in the same email and phone number, etc, as existing account, it will ask to verify your account by either verify using the Xfinity App or send text message to your phone number, etc.
- And once you verify your info using something like text message, the checkout process will have access to your payment information in your existing account and let you continue and complete the check out (using the same payment info like Checking account/credit card saved in your existing email/user account).

If you click on the confirmation email to check your account, you will see TWO Xfinity internet accounts associate with the same email login account.

After logout of the account on the website and the App, then try log back in again, when try to manage your internet plan, you can see a new option which you can select either your old internet plan or new internet plan. Select the newer Xfinity internet account to activate it and verify the internet account detail.

If you checkout and has your own modem that is compatible with this plan (could be the same modem you are currently using with the old plan), you can activate the new plan right away and can get the faster speed right away since you don't need to wait for the modem from them
So helpful informations. Thanks a lot

Just signed up as it's 60 bucks cheaper than we currently pay. Does anyone know how the Peacock deal works? Do you need a specific link to set it up?

After I activated new modem, Comcast sent me an email "Activate your Peacock subscription today".
Used link in that email and created Peacock account. After logging in on Roku, everything seems to work fine.
You can try to log in and go to xfinity.com/yoursubscriptions to activate.
