It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

Do you not use your own modem? Mostoeople here don't use xfinity provided modem/router.
I used to prefer my own modem when they were charging rental fees. Since now it's free, I put their equipment in bridge mode and use only modem part with my own router. Also disable Xfinity hot spot in your app. In the past, on couple occasions when there were some issues with my service, they tried to blame my modem.

I did a Xfinity 5-Year promo a few months ago and followed the steps to create a new account with a new email but with the old name and address. I setup everything and picked up the modem in store.

Apparently activating the new modem automatically disconnected the old service. When I returned the old modem the store associate mentioned the service is already canceled and provided me a receipt. I will check my account again in a few days.
I also just signed up a few months ago on the 5 year promo for around $95. I got a new XB8 modem at that time. Would they have to send me ANOTHER modem if I tried this? And would my rewards level get set back to as if I were a new customer?

Is this different from the normal cable internet comcast offer ? Never know they have fiber internet. Paying $70 for the cable 1 gig, any benefit switching ?
Benefit would be $20 savings every month and no price increases for 5 years. There is no difference from your existing 1gig service, maybe some areas have fiber, but most just regular coaxial connection.

Did you see any confirmation line for the prepaid gift card in the email they sent out?
Yes. "$50 Virtual Prepaid Card Included"
It's right below the Peacock Premium line.

If you do the trick for registering with existing account, you would carry forward the status since it's same user.

Even with the user, you are technically cloaing your old account (have to return your Xfinity equipment) and get new equipment.

If you think returning old equipment is painful for you, you can try chatting/contacting customer support to move you to this plan. People have been successful with that!

Thanks so much for this. I went through 4 people including chat and got a different number every time. Your instructions work perfect and I can't wait to tell them to shove their $140/month 2 gig plan up their arse.

OK, I signed up using another a/c, received the new gateway and activated it!
Anyone knows how to transfer my xfinity cell line from my old a/c to my new a/c?

Has anyone here who recently jumped on the $50 (1) gig deal got their (2) years of free Peacock to successfully activate? If so how did you do it? App or website?
You go to the activation hub and click signup then register a Peacock account. Note: The Peacock account MUST have the same email as Xfinity.

I tried the upgrade via new account trick twice and both times failed. Perhaps the first attempt went bad because of my mistake of not logging out first. But the second attempt left me without an xfinity login for the new account. It showed up only in the confirmation email, but I could not access it again. So I went to the local Xfinity store and a rep there cancelled out that new attempt. I asked her what she could do for me, but the answer was not satisfactory. Perhaps, it had something to do with me cancelling all my mobile lines with them 6 months prior.
Either way, I tried all this because I got a new promo from Frontier which has Fios right here on my street in SWFL. Frontier's offer was for 1gig for $49 a month but price was good for just 1 year. I called Frontier and the rep gave me free 6 months on top of the $150 GC in the promo. So, looks like I'm taking it and will revisit in a year. Frontier, BTW, is more reliable in my area with all new fiber put in couple years back. Survived 3 hurricanes with no down time. Neighbors have no complaints. Also, Frontier reps were so much nicer (all in USA) and helpful than the Xfinity crowd.

Do we need to pay taxes and fees on the free mobile line?

Terms say, "After 1 year, taxes and fees, and other applicable charges extra, and subj. to change." which in a way means taxes and fees are included/free for the 1st year?

Also, I have ATT fiber till the end of the month so can I order this an only "activate" later?
