While not great, these portable monitors are helpful when traveling to see people over the holiday season. At $40, it's not a bad deal.

I travel infrequently but love having a portable monitor when I do. I just wish someone would make a cheap one with a Vesa mount so I could throw it up next to my existing monitor when I'm at home.

You can with some phones. Samsung DeX, for example. Motorola has a variant, I can't recall it. Probably others. It's really best with a touchscreen monitor, though.

I bought this in April '25 for 59.99 and it works well for me. I travel frequently so having an external monitor is a must for things as basic a reading emails and being on Teams calls. It has speakers and in my instance, I used it without an HDMI cable. Highly recommend at this price!

Just tried this with the Acer model that is similar and it works with my Ipad Pro 11 4th gen and it works, not sure if it will work with USB-C based iphones since I still have an iphone 12. Be sure to turn off the HDR on default, otherwise everything is foggy looking. Mirroring works well but the Ipad pro's speakers are far superior, haven't played around to see if I can get them to play instead of the crappy monitor speaker(s). Haven't figured out how to move things to the monitor screen in extend mode. Really odd thing about these USB powered monitors, I had an AOC brand that was pre USB-C and it works as a 4th monitor in my work from home set up. The Acer does not, on both my work and personal PC's, strange.

Your work/personal PC USB-C ports have to support DisplayPort over USB-C—USB-C is a form factor, not a protocol. It just has a lot of pins (24) that CAN be used, but that doesn't mean they ARE being used. The Chinese made a killing selling standard USB 2.0 (4-pin) cables with UBS-C connectors for awhile—still do, in fact.

Also I'm not sure what you mean about not being able to "move things to the monitor screen in extend mode", but if you have a PC just hold the windows key and use the arrow keys to move windows from screen to screen. Otherwise just right click the desktop and click "Display settings" (or equivalent) and you can see how your monitors are arranged. It's probably just in a weird spot.
