I tried to order 3 DoorDash cards, and I got an email saying my order was cancelled, and that they needed more information. No other information, or even a way to contact them, was provided.

Beware of buying gift cards through Staples!!! My $50 gift card order was once cancelled with no notice to me whatsoever. When I called Staples to figure out what was the delay whats going on wheres the gift card, they forwarded me to their "gift card mall" department who cancelled my order because they couldnt verify my identity by my phone number because . . . . the phone number I provided for the order wasn't associated with the major cell carriors (Verizon, AT&T, T-mobile) for them to cross-reference my identity. For a $50 gift card. Would never ever purchase gift cards through Staples again!

Sounds right. What good is this deal if they cannot steal your personal info in the process so you can be harvested, harassed and sold to the highest bidder, these companies don't accept VOIP for a reason.... it's "too" secure for "you", the telecommunication industry is in MAJOR need of regulation.

Well, okay, but also counter-point. These companies have to install some safe guards so these gift cards aren't used for money laundering or bribes/scams.

If they are, they are likely required to give some contact information for the buyer to the Feds.

Fair point, though on many occasions I have noticed that after sharing this information I am targeted by telemarketers and tons of scam calls asking for my information from people that cannot even speak english, so even if done for the reason as you state it is done very poorly and the information is DEFINETELY leaked stolen or sold and the so called laundering scams are working in reverse to the average consumer, it has personally happened to me MANY times and it happens to law abiding citizens far too often, they need to be better at how they accomplish this cause historically it has shown to put your data out there and it isn't always used properly as it should be. Simple solution, let me use a VOIP, it isn't that hard and surely there is enough info to track these type of dealings, you don't need ALL my info or if you do at least be better at protecting it!!!

You do realize scammers use gift cards, so it's reasonable for these checks to happen, right?

If they accept PayPal and you have Chase Freedom, that's another 5% in points.
