It is, but not sure if it's considered "food safe", especially with a hot liquid. I can attest to it being waterproof though. I have a smaller one mounted on my ATV for phone/keys/wallet and has kept them all dry.

It has the typical plasticy smell but after I left if open for a few days with nothing in it, the smell is gone and doesn't impart any smell/flavor on my cigars, Its a bit big for a travel humidor but the tray and pouch in the top are awesome for keeping lighters/cutters/etc, in the top so they don't bang around with your cigars.

I tend to bring cigars for the group so this is a great size for filling up and tossing in the suitcase. I like it enough that if there was this sale for the smaller one I would buy another to have a smaller option too.
