Actually the 5000 series are bland but more like workhorses with all the ports you need that includes GB ethernet. It is robust, less premium, more plasticky. But very flexible using DIMMs
The 9000 series is more premium, thinner, metallic and higher end. They do not have ethernet ports might have soldered higher speed RAM like LPDDR5x or the new CAMM modules and ask for a pretty premium...

The 12th gens don't start at $351 or they have sold out.
There are 11th gens that do start at $351.

The 9000 series was definitely a premium, all-aluminum feel meant to evoke a thinner design (even if they aren't really that much thinner than other series). The soldered RAM is the only disappointment bigger than the efficiency-oriented 11th generation CPU models. The remaining 11th generation CPU models in stock right now are functional, long-term productivity machines but honestly I'd suggest their looks exceed their performance capabilities.

Then again, I consider these much nicer to handle than something like the very-plastic 7000 series models with their carbon-fiber lids.

Good luck!
Jon

I typically only buy Workstations, as they tend to be of a more professional grade device... Unless you're going for something cheap, light, and semi-disposable; Which a lot of the regular laptops are... I've spent lots of $$$ and had 90% success rate when buying from DellRefurbished.com.... Buy with confidence, and dont forget to buy the extended warranty!

But it's not. Post up a non throw away laptop with the same quality for the same price. I've bought dozens of these, some are still going in a shop environment 8 years later. Any sub $500 NEW laptop might last a year or two, flimsy plastic POS's basically.
