For anyone that is interested in this and hasn't played the games, it's worth noting that season one tells a complete story, and doesn't require knowledge of the game. The core story is a faithful reproduction and slight expansion of the first game's story, which was played by at least hundreds of thousands of gamers. This TV season won multiple awards.
Season two is based on the sequel game, and is generally not as well liked due to significant changes made to main characters, pacing, and plot. However, you could just watch season one and decide if you want to continue or not.
