It sounds pretty slick on paper, just keep in mind some considerations:

- Phone sales tax- due at sign up.
- Monthly Taxes. Like someone mentioned can be as high as $9/line per month
- Activation fees. Apparently $40 per line, but maybe you can get waived?
- Verizon has historically said allow 1-2 billing cycles for discounts to appear. Well, if they don't appear be prepared to spend multiple calls and hours to try and get them to honor their agreement.
- This service plan is the lowest unlimited so don't get the ultra wideband (faster 5g) or hot spot.
- to take full advantage of the discount you have to keep the lines for 3 years. That's a long time to be locked in. Theoretical scenario: if you pulled all 4 lines out after 2 years would owe around $1500 for the phone pay offs.

While a good price, I think they are trying to get you to sign up, and then bc you'll be frustrated with the lower plan will upgrade at a significant cost ($40/line instead of $25).

It's equivalent to most Verizon-based MVNOs and Visible's lowest tier.
This reddit post [reddit.com] explains data prioritization for the 3 major carriers and the MVNOs on them.

Here's the taxes for my CA city if anyone's interested

Fed Universal Service Charge: $0.41
Regulatory Charge: $0.21
Admin & Telco Recovery Charge: $3.78
CA State 911 Surcharge: $0.41
CA State 988 Surcharge: $0.08
CA Universal Service PPP Fee: $0.90
Emerg Comm Acc Tax: $3.22
City UUT: $0.28
Total charges per line = $9.29

It's still a really good deal if you're in the market for new iPhones

Yeah, but here's the thing with the 1st option - what if that "provider T" ends their promotion for paying off the phone?
You're right "provider T" ends trade-in credits if you pay off phones.

Can't wait to be out of under their thumb. All these amazing deals for new customers, but old customers are stuck paying 2.5x this for the same plans. I was on with CS for about 40 minutes just hearing empty apologies and offers to give me a $5 bill credit...

Not talking about trade in credits. Talking about their promotion to buy out and pay off phones to bring people over to their service.

Guys. Guys.. You buy this plan from provider V and after the phones are unlocked you find a cellphone company that will pay your phone off when you "switch". We will call them provider T. You pay provider T for 3 months and get the pay off for the phones. You pay off provider V. You cancel provider T. You now own 4 phones for about the price of 1.

Another scenario.
Take the deal. Sign up for provider T but don't cancel V. Provider T sends you prepaid visa cards for cell phone payoff. Don't use for phone payoff, instead just keep letting provider V give you the monthly credit.
Signing up for T whereby they pay you for your installment balance at V doesn't require you porting the exact lines that have the 4 installment payment plans over from V?

What was the total out of pocket for signing up? Just taxes only?
Due now:

$363 (Taxes on four devices in state of Texas)

Due monthly:

$165.81, but if you do autopay from a bank account (no CC accepted for the discount, unless you use the Verizon CC vomit ) it's supposed to be $125.81 ($10/line discount).

Also, I ended up doing the chat with the rep, and he removed the $40 activation fee on each line, as well as walked me through the process of signing up for the $300 gift card. Took about an hour.

I got this added to my transfer. Talk to an agent and tell them you have balances and if they still pay off your phones to switch over. They can add that in and it'll be in your profile as a reminder to send them your phone once you pay it off. They will reimburse the cost.

Seriously considering the route of buying and switch to T/magenta. Checking their terms though (T/magenta), it says "Submit proof of balance & 90+ days in good standing with carrier & device within 30 days of port-in and be active and in good standing when processed". I thought someone above mentioned we only needed to be with Verizon for 60 days?? Sounds like T/magenta wants to see 3 months in good standing with prior cell provider. Then how long do we need to be with T/magenta? Just long enough to get the rewards cards?

If I'm reading this correctly, it's:

- Roughly $185 for SoCal taxes on purchase
- 3 x months = $560 (roughly $140/month after fees and crap)
- 1 x month of T/magenta = $140

Total after 4 months = $885

Is that right? I can't find anything on T/magenta's website that says how long we must stay after they pay off the phones????

is $125.81 with taxes and fees? It is advertised as $100 for 4 lines + taxes and fees?
Also, did you waive off the activation fee after buying the plans or before that?

That is with the taxes and fees. Of course, despite Verizon's "price guarantee", the fees are not price-locked, and will most likely increase as the 3 years progress.

So I put all my phones in my cart and entered the numbers, and was to the point of entering personal information when I decided to start the chat with the rep. Turns out they start from scratch - "what colors; are you bringing you own numbers; do you want protection; do you want this that...."

So, it's like they are walking through the cart process and filling stuff in. My advice: just click the chat thing first and get started. It's slow going, but IF it all works out, it'll have been worth my time.

Yes you need to be with Verizon for at least 3 months. The last time I did this a year ago I received my prepaid cards within the month, cancelled, and only had to pay 1 month of T service.
