- Phone sales tax- due at sign up.
- Monthly Taxes. Like someone mentioned can be as high as $9/line per month
- Activation fees. Apparently $40 per line, but maybe you can get waived?
- Verizon has historically said allow 1-2 billing cycles for discounts to appear. Well, if they don't appear be prepared to spend multiple calls and hours to try and get them to honor their agreement.
- This service plan is the lowest unlimited so don't get the ultra wideband (faster 5g) or hot spot.
- to take full advantage of the discount you have to keep the lines for 3 years. That's a long time to be locked in. Theoretical scenario: if you pulled all 4 lines out after 2 years would owe around $1500 for the phone pay offs.
While a good price, I think they are trying to get you to sign up, and then bc you'll be frustrated with the lower plan will upgrade at a significant cost ($40/line instead of $25).
This reddit post [reddit.com] explains data prioritization for the 3 major carriers and the MVNOs on them.
Fed Universal Service Charge: $0.41
Regulatory Charge: $0.21
Admin & Telco Recovery Charge: $3.78
CA State 911 Surcharge: $0.41
CA State 988 Surcharge: $0.08
CA Universal Service PPP Fee: $0.90
Emerg Comm Acc Tax: $3.22
City UUT: $0.28
Total charges per line = $9.29
It's still a really good deal if you're in the market for new iPhones

I'm probably showing my age, but to me Verizon always meant CDMA modems that locked you into either Verizon or Sprint. ATT and TMobile used GSM so it was a bit like picking a team. I'm presuming that Verizon iPhones can be unlocked and used on ATT and TMobile (or Mint, etc. etc.). Is that correct?
For verizon, phones are locked for 60days and can be used anywhere after. Beware some have reported verizon keeps the phones locked untill the phone is completly paid off, but not sure how true this is.

BTW - I did get an answer to the tier change question. I was told that if I need to change tiers (e.g. from Welcome to Plus) then the promotional rate would not apply. So basically I would need to decide who needs what level of the plan up front and then stick with it for 3yrs.
Ordered first phone, got 300 gc to apply, went through one cashback portal which tracked
Then activated it and set up everything on Verizon account and added a line. Did same 300 GC offer and went through another cashback portal. That went TBD on whether it tracked
Then once more for another phone
The fourth one I'll do tomorrow
Question: the 20 dollar portout thing shows up in the port out page, I click check offers, and then it takes me to the My Offers page that says "we are working on some new offers for you..." but doesn't show it
Is that one gone?
Monthly charges:
National Discount Marker $0.00
$45 CREDIT X 36 MONTHS -$45.00
$20 BETTER DEAL 4+ PHONES -$20.00
NATIONAL DISCOUNT - 3+ LINES -$20.00

Initially only two of four in family needed new phone
But I decided to leave my free Spectrum service (still eligible for few months yet) and port
For the new phones, and with the 3x300 GCs that were pretty easy to set up, it seems worthwhile so far
Will it be easy to actually get the advertised discounts and all? I hope so. They show in the projected bill area pretty clearly
I agree that customer service is terrible. Been sitting in chat for hours now....
1. Click Cashback site
2. Ordered 1 line w. $300 Rebate for instore pick up.
3. Picked up and activate. Redeemed Rebate.
4. Repeat same process 3 more times. 4 rebates are pending now.
5. Chat with CSR and asked for $40 Activation credit x 4 Lines.
6. Went to request port out PIN, and received $20 off per line offer for 12 months.
