The predictive temperature is amazing, if you want consistent medium rare, this is your go to.
Great stocking stuffer for a carnivore. The app is way nicer than it should be for $30.
I bought the two probe one last night before I tested this as it seems like a neat idea but the ambient is incredibly aggravating.
Probably going to send this back and try the two probe unit and see if it's any better.

Good catch, even their better one with more probes looks exactly the same as the Thermomaven.
(models with 2 probes cost 2-3x as much and use a different home/base than this single probe model.)
I've tried heating different spots on the probe (tip, middle, other end before ceramic), and the "middle" readings always significantly lag the tip and end.
For instance, if you take a hot spoon, and touch the middle, the tip and end readings will be hotter than the middle reading, even allowing some time for stuff to adjust. Or, if you dip the tip in hot water, the tip responds first, followed by the other end, followed by the middle.
Either it's miswired, or perhaps the central probe doesn't have good contact with the probe body, making them useless.
Perhaps my unit is just faulty, but I'm a bit miffed either way. But yeah, if someone could try the same experiment I'd be grateful.
