Got the Mini 3 last year at the then best deal of $129.99. I like the size and quality of the unit and it has been working quite well. I have the feeling that some of those brutal reviews are from a certain brand trying to peddle their own super duper dash cams often claiming you need at least certain sensor/resolution, blah, blah, blah... I may not be able to capture the license plate of a car 100 ft out through the glare (even the super duper 4K+ dash cams can't) but more than enough details to stop the ambulance chasers. I heard that some lawyers just stopped when they learned of there were dash cam recordings even without reviewing the video, priceless!

I have a mini 2. Survived 2 years of 115 degree summers. It's been great.

Correct - I used the adhesive that came with my Garmin dash cam and when I traded in that car; I remembered it was extremely hard to get it off.

I'm a fan of garmin products but don't know much about their dash cam. Curious to know opinions on this one. I think their earlier ones were not very good

Seems like a good option when driving in a rental car?

Looks like adhesive mount, rather than suction cup style, which may not be a good idea on rentals.

This has no GPS. Isn't that pretty important for a dash-cam?

Dang...feels like Black Friday and Cyber Monday again at these prices. LOL. I have an old one with the LCD screen for the past 3+ years and love it. I pretty much drive my car 7 days a week for the past 3 years and it has never once failed. I think it has froze maybe 4x in the last 3 years (probably due to the memory card starting to fail because it's probably been re-written over 100x already) but whenever it freezes, a message pops up, it restarts itself automatically, and it starts recording again.

Some of those reviews are pretty brutal. Seems overpriced for 1080p and other functionality. Size seems to be the primary reason to buy this over other, more robust options

1080p is outdated tech for a dashcam. 2K is the minimum resolution one should consider for a dashcam these days.

Why would that be important? You just want video footage, you can tell from that where you were.
