Samsung's S90F OLED is drawing attention as a bright, colorful QD OLED TV that stands out for gaming, upscaling, and strong SDR and HDR performance. The 77 inch model is repeatedly described as the latest model year at a standout price, with some checkout totals landing around $1,530 before tax and lower after stacked discounts. Main tradeoffs are Dolby Vision support, Samsung's DTS and app quirks, and return or warranty hassles that can erase some of the savings.
Shoppers comparing premium 77-inch OLEDs, because the 77-inch model is QD-OLED and is repeatedly described as a strong value versus higher-priced alternatives.
Viewers prioritizing vivid color and strong upscaling on non-4K content, because Samsung is described as more accurate, brighter, and better at upscaling.
Home theater setups that need DTS passthrough through the TV, because DTS support is missing and may require an external audio extractor or receiver upgrade.
Buyers who may need an easy return path, because Samsung returns can be a hassle and one reported case involved a cracked screen and a difficult refund process.
It can work on some EPP accounts and on the 77-inch model, but it is reported as invalid on Education and first-responder accounts. Some shoppers also found the code removed a previously selected offer instead of lowering the total.
Watch the Samsung Vision AI video while signed in, then add the TV to cart; the discount can appear automatically without a separate code. Clearing cookies and using the TV & AV menu path reportedly helps when the offer does not show up.
The S90F is reported to be far brighter in Game Mode, more colorful, and better at handling direct reflections, while the C5 has Dolby Vision and can keep blacks darker in bright rooms. For Xbox and Dolby Vision content, the C5 has a slight edge; for brightness and QD-OLED color, the S90F does.
It does not support Dolby Vision, and DTS passthrough is also reported as unsupported. That means some setups may need an Apple TV, Nvidia Shield, or an external audio extractor/splitter for full media compatibility.
Arrived and installed, nice size upgrade from the 65 S90 (95) c but overall pretty comparable PQ. Still only out 900 all in after selling the 65 with 2 years Samsung care on top, not too bad.
I think many people don't realize that Employee discount doesn't mean ~Samsung~ Employees. Many large companies qualify- https://image-us.samsung.com/Sams...y_2024.pdf
For walmart workers you go to your walmart one portal, search up samsung and it gives you a special link to samsung.com. You don't have to pair anything but you do have to visit through that link, and make sure it still says "Welcome to the Walmart Associate Store" up top when you go to checkout. If your company gives you a working email with their domain it's probably easier to just sign up for a samsung account with that. But I'd also make sure you have your recovery options in order in case you ever lose access to that address.
Bad news is the APPs, as posted by others, are problematic. I had to uninstall the Samsung plus to get normal functionality.
Kept booting to cartoons. Also instant on was locked but when I uninstalled the Samsung Plus APP I think it went away. Now it boots to an antenna which I think is fixable.
Samsung App plus really slows this unit down to a crawl.

Picture is incredible.
I'm not really convinced the built in UI is ever a good idea on these "smart" tvs. It mostly acts as a way for them to sell ads so they can keep extracting money from you for years to come. It doesn't really make sense to chain an expensive long lasting screen with a cheap processor that can barely keep up on day 1, let alone after years of ballooning app requirements. The Onn Plus (much faster processor than Pro) is real snappy, or the Google TV Streamer 4K for twice as much if you really want direct from Google. Either gets you the full Play Store version of apps, which lets you install things like ProjectIvy launcher. You can also sideload things like ad free youtube, though that does make voice search less senior friendly. I just connect tvs to internet like twice a year for performance updates, which taper off after a while anyway.
Dolby Vision is noticeably better than HDR10+. It's such a silly opinion when people say they think Dolby Vision is overrated.
LOL. From your experience or is it because you bought a LG instead of the S90F which is cheaper and a tad better for me then the C5. I'm all 4K and gaming which the S90F is better.
Just a FYI below. Maybe if we were taking the lower end B5 or the S85F DV might help a bit but I'll take the Sammy and the higher NITS
