I was trying to find a reason to avoid buying the RZ70 on E Expo for $1795 since it's totally unnecessary for my setup. This literally couldn't have come at a better time for me. Thanks for posting!!!

Having experience with them.
Unless you need 11 channels, the RZ30 is probably the better buy imo.

It cost less, newer, independent sub outs making DLBC a more optimal option & unlikely to hear any big difference if at all.

Does that receiver come with Dirac out of the box like this?

Ummm....120 W @ 8 ohms, typo there.... Although a really good deal, I find the Onkyo brand one of the least robust of the typical AV receiver category. Have had a few units lose either the HDMI functionality (more of an historical design flaw) or have an amplifier channel short out. Prefer to stick with Pioneer, Denon or Yamaha.

Speaking from personal ownership

This is a great unit
Probably more suited to a more medium space

I suggest checking out the owner's forum on AVS. Many of them have owned this AVR since its introduction in 2021
There are lot of tips and tricks that can be learned from those that have actually owned the unit for years
There is a high satisfaction from what I have read

I was certainly satisfied with my unit when I owned it

You can drop Pioneer for consideration as they no longer make AVRs!

Thats probably with only 1-2 channels driven...thats typically how the rate( advertise) all but the highest end A/V equipment
Pioneer and Onkyo are the same company and have been for a while now

Have you also compared the RZ30/50 support for streaming protocols / services? It seems like there are differences, but I don't know enough about this yet. Thanks.

What is your 1st or 2nd choice model number of a comparable Denon or Yamaha (or other)? I thought Dirac Live is hard to find included under $2k. Thanks.

Aw man, and I just received my RZ30.
Check to see if you can still do the PayPal Pay-in-4 20% off. I used that on the RZ30 and made the price effectively $599 with cashback.

There isn't anything specifically I'd want from the RZ50, other than maybe native Alexa integration and the beefier amp. But then the newer RZ30 has two independent sub outs. For those worried about HDMI issues, that was many years/generations ago. Nowadays, Denon/Onkyo probably have the best HDMI implementation. The RZ30/RZ50 are both great receivers with awesome deals this holiday season.
