Speaking from personal ownership

This is a great unit
Probably more suited to a more medium space

I suggest checking out the owner's forum on AVS. Many of them have owned this AVR since its introduction in 2021
There are lot of tips and tricks that can be learned from those that have actually owned the unit for years
There is a high satisfaction from what I have read

I was certainly satisfied with my unit when I owned it

I was trying to find a reason to avoid buying the RZ70 on E Expo for $1795 since it's totally unnecessary for my setup. This literally couldn't have come at a better time for me. Thanks for posting!!!

Is there any Marantz under $2k (including sales) which have Dirac Live?

Yes I realize all those Onkyo's can be found under $2k. I was responding to 2 comments which recommended picking non-Onkyo. People like to trash a deal when posted, so my question is always, what does that person like if not this?
This past BF, you could have easily gotten a 3800 (of which the Cinema 50 is a clone) and Dirac licenses all the way to ART (which no PAC AVR can do) for ~$2k if you figure the 3800's average street price of $1300 + all 3 Dirac licenses at the BF price of $640!

This OR Yamaha advantage A6A for 1100$ including tax ?
If you don't prefer/favor either brand then it comes down to features.

The main reason people go with this is Dirac.
If that is of no interest, take a look at this comparison to see the feature difference. https://www.zkelectronics.com/com...x-a6a/usa/

I recently bought it and installed it. Everytime I switch apps on my apple tv, the AVR makes a clicking noise. I've my frame rate and range matching on apple tv set to off. Not sure what's going on? Any thoughts?

Anyone know how these RZ50's have been holding up, reliability-wise?

I am going to speculate that PAC has sold a lot of this model. Though I have no certified sales numbers
People waited on this unit in 2021 and paid full MSRP
There are many owner's in the AVS forum threads that bought this unit at introduction
They seem to be very satisfied
I owned one for about 18 months and frankly for the price, there was nothing out there IMO, that offered the same price to performance ratio for what I paid
I actually A/B ed it against the Denon X4800, in my home...I didnt see any real upside in the Denon X4800 over the Onkyo RZ50

You can read through 4 years of posts from actual owners

I've always been a 5.1 user. I don't have room for much more than that. Is this overkill? I often use an external amp. My last theater had a RZ840 as the pre and a Rotel RMB-1095 200W RMS x 5 and it was quite the experience. I'm seeking to get that Rotel amp again and use the new receiver only as a pre.
That Rotel 1095 is a classic amp that was high performance and is still very well regarded
I dont know what speakers( room size and volume) you are running ...but there is no AVR that I have seen here on slick deals that will come anywhere close to the performance of that Rotel

The Onkyo RZ70 is probably the closest I have seen...but even then, that Rotel is much higher performing

You probably already know that Rotel amp, in good operational and cosmetic condition, has great resale value

Its worth a lot more on the used market than the selling price of the AVR in this thread

Every brand has a failure rate.
TBH ime the majority of the time its user caused.

This has been out since 2021 & majority of owners are content with it.

Real world how much difference would I notice between this RZ50 and an Onkyo TX-NR676. I run Atmos now but this has much more power and I wonder if there would be an actual difference at moderate volume levels...

Many factor to consider.
In general, both implemented properly, at moderate levels.
In real world use, very unlikely you're gonna hear anywhere near a $900 difference ime.

Biggest improvement would probably be room correction.

In that case, you're better off looking at the RZ30 when it's between $700-750.There is hardly any difference between this and the RZ30 in real world use ime.

RZ30 likely in my future in that case. The main thing I want is preouts for the 5 primary channels to run external amplification. My KEF fronts want a lot of clean power and I'd like to get them on a discreet amp. Thank you for your input.

I just purchased this Onkyo AV Receiver at this insane low price of $899! I couldn't afford it at regular price so I really appreciate the heads up from Slickdeals.com for making it possible and now a reality. I hope this Onkyo TX-RZ50 is everything I read about.

You'll need to clarify your question.
Content offers different "surround" options.
Your AVR usually offers several different codecs that decode those content options.

Example, if you're talking about an object based "surround" setup.
You are much more restricted by the AVRs capabilities than content.

Just got my rz30 this weekend, used my PayPal 20% off too. I probably would've gone for this for $80 extra. Oh well
