Speaking from personal ownership

This is a great unit
Probably more suited to a more medium space

I suggest checking out the owner's forum on AVS. Many of them have owned this AVR since its introduction in 2021
There are lot of tips and tricks that can be learned from those that have actually owned the unit for years
There is a high satisfaction from what I have read

I was certainly satisfied with my unit when I owned it

I was trying to find a reason to avoid buying the RZ70 on E Expo for $1795 since it's totally unnecessary for my setup. This literally couldn't have come at a better time for me. Thanks for posting!!!

This says 11.2 processing but I believe you need to add a 2 channel amp - correct? If yes what is the most cost effective 2 channel amp on the market? Do the power outputs need to match?

Can this do 7.2.4?

The TX-RZ50 has 11.2 processing but only 9 amps built-in, so yes – you need a separate 2-channel power amp if you want to run 7.2.4. The cheapest route is a small Class-D 2-channel amp (Fosi / Monoprice / similar). It doesn't have to perfectly match the Onkyo's power – Dirac/AccuEQ will level-match everything. With a 2-channel amp connected to the Surround Back pre-outs, the RZ50 can absolutely do 7.2.4.

Thanks, so should I not even worry about the firmware not being updated in like 5 years? I cannot find the file and my wifi and ethernet does not work on it. Thanks
Honestly, I wouldn't stress too much about the firmware at this point. The X4300H still performs great for what it was built to do, especially since you're using the Monolith 7 for the heavy lifting. The missing updates mainly mean you don't get the newer streaming features or HDMI 2.1 stuff, but sound quality wise, you're not really losing anything major. If your system is stable and everything plays fine, you're good.If you really want modern features like Dirac, HDMI 2.1, or better streaming support, then upgrading to something like the RZ50 makes sense. But if it's just the firmware and Wi-Fi not working, that alone doesn't justify replacing the whole receiver unless those features matter a lot to you. You're still running a legit setup either way.

Yes it can do 7.2.4 with a 2 channel external amp.

Keep in mind the .2 is a parallel/mono signal.
Dirac Live doesn't include their subwoofer/bass room correction.
It will use the AVRs bass management to calculate one sub signal.

You will want to calibrate/integrate the two subs prior to running Dirac, it will not do it for you.

The popular inexpensive amp is Fosi, people say they work for them.

Unfortunately with all the turmoil right now, this is the new $750 deal! Unlikely that's going to change anytime soon.

So you can no longer check for updates because the ethernet connection no longer works?
correct. I heard you can upgrade the firmware via thumb drive but I cannot find any update files anywhere not even on denon site.

I would suggest reaching out to Denon & asking them about it.
They'll probably want your current firmware you're using, include that.

If you're able to get to work, I kinda agree with others & keep it.
Especially if you don't need any of the new features.

Dirac is a big one but you can take advantage of A1EVO.
It's a game changer, give you basically the performance of Dirac's DL & DLBC!
Just take a look at the Express version, very easy to use.

I also highly recommend the $20 Editor app but it's not required.

I just purchased this Onkyo AV Receiver at this insane low price of $899! I couldn't afford it at regular price so I really appreciate the heads up from Slickdeals.com for making it possible and now a reality. I hope this Onkyo TX-RZ50 is everything I read about.
Good deal. I bought this at full MSRP back in 2021 and very satisfied. Had always been a Yamaha fan and this RZ-50 have left me wanting for nothing. Have had my system disconnected for over a year using a Samsung Q990C soundbar, only because I have some surround speaker upgrades to do, and just haven't found the time to rewire and setup back everything. But this thread is bringing back memories of how sweet the sound is from this AVR, it's encouraging me to find the time to set back up everything.

Yes, that Fosi Audio V3 is exactly what you need. The RZ50 only has 9 amps built-in, so you add this little 2-channel amp to the Surround Back pre-outs and it unlocks full 7.2.4.You don't need matching wattage, calibration will level everything out.Get the 48V/5A version for the best performance. It's the cheapest and most popular add-on amp for the RZ50.
