Speaking from personal ownership

This is a great unit
Probably more suited to a more medium space

I suggest checking out the owner's forum on AVS. Many of them have owned this AVR since its introduction in 2021
There are lot of tips and tricks that can be learned from those that have actually owned the unit for years
There is a high satisfaction from what I have read

I was certainly satisfied with my unit when I owned it

I was trying to find a reason to avoid buying the RZ70 on E Expo for $1795 since it's totally unnecessary for my setup. This literally couldn't have come at a better time for me. Thanks for posting!!!

if thats the case, you would have to drop Onkyo, Denon, Marantz, Integra, Harmon Kardon, etc.,. the list is endless. Denon/Marantz, Bowers & Wilkins, Harman Kardon are part of Samsung now; Onkyo, Integra, Pioneer (not anymore), Klipsch are part of Voxx. Pioneer AVRs were manufactured by the Voxx group under license from Pioneer but that license has ended and manufacturing has stopped. All great brands are really gone now. It's really sad. Only Yamaha, Sony manufactures their own in the budget category.
My point is there will be no more new Pioneer AVRs down the pipeline. There will be plenty of other new AVRs from the other makes you mentioned.

Is that isnt a new level, full bandwidth? Cause I know bass correction is still like a separate $300 license.

You can drop Pioneer for consideration as they no longer make AVRs!
Neither does Onkyo or Integra. They're all owned by one company. You can find the name of it if you ever put in a warranty Claim. Or you could google....

Well actually it's a good thing, the other alternative is do what Pioneer has done, get out of the business.

Technology has advanced & people just don't find the work worth it for the quality performance benefits.

The PAC & Dirac deal was genius business one for both!

Sony tried to follow with their own RC but didn't fair well, only for Sony diehards.

Yamaha has to do something soon, wouldn't be a bad idea if they jumped in with everyone else.
I have a feeling their trademark DSPs are an issue.
That's just an educated guess on my part.

Denon/Marantz just making Dirac an option & not included was pretty smart also.

For people with good setups there really is no reason to go separates any longer because of D/M!

First off, Voxx no longer owns PAC as Gentex bought them recently. Second, Pioneer removed their license from the PAC group so there won't be a Pioneer-branded AVR anytime soon. Most folks already know brands like Onkyo and Integra don't make their own hardware so not sure where the confusion is.

Having experience with them.
Unless you need 11 channels, the RZ30 is probably the better buy imo.

It cost less, newer, independent sub outs making DLBC a more optimal option & unlikely to hear any big difference if at all.
I am seeing it more expensive based on a quick search

Honestly, I wouldn't stress too much about the firmware at this point. The X4300H still performs great for what it was built to do, especially since you're using the Monolith 7 for the heavy lifting. The missing updates mainly mean you don't get the newer streaming features or HDMI 2.1 stuff, but sound quality wise, you're not really losing anything major. If your system is stable and everything plays fine, you're good.If you really want modern features like Dirac, HDMI 2.1, or better streaming support, then upgrading to something like the RZ50 makes sense. But if it's just the firmware and Wi-Fi not working, that alone doesn't justify replacing the whole receiver unless those features matter a lot to you. You're still running a legit setup either way.
If the receiver is stable and everything plays correctly, outdated firmware alone isn't a reason to panic or replace it. Sound quality doesn't suddenly degrade just because updates stopped, especially if external amps are doing the heavy lifting. Where an upgrade does make sense is if you actually want newer functionality, not better sound by itself: Dirac Live HDMI 2.1 / modern gaming support Reliable network / app control Full 7.2.4 processing with simpler setupIf Wi-Fi and Ethernet are completely dead and you rely on streaming or network features, then yeah at that point it becomes a usability issue, not a sound-quality one. In that case, moving to something like the Onkyo RZ50 is more about modern convenience and features, not because the older receiver suddenly became "bad."Bottom line:If it works and does what you need, enjoy it.If you want modern features and future-proofing, that's when an upgrade makes sense.

My question is when hooking up sources, is it better to connect to the receiver first, or the TV first with output to receiver? I have a LG c Series OLED.
Connect all your sources to the RZ50 first, then run one HDMI from the RZ50 to the TV (HDMI eARC).That's the cleanest, most reliable setup for both audio and video.

Receivers have the worst resale value of anything on earth lol. Def worth hitting some pawn shops imo.

Kinda have to agree. If you don't need the latest features, you can get a good unit this way.
Just have to be patient & in no hurry, it is very hit n miss.

I would also add someone building a setup.
Far too often people buy the AVR then the speakers, should be the other way around ime.
An inexpensive used unit will do until you get all the speakers.

if you are going to speculate...I would say the market is in flux
Denon/Marantz sales are off 25-27% year over year ( based on reporting) and Masimo just fire saled that group off to Harman International( Samsung)

I am going to guess that the majority of their volume is in the made in Vietnam by a third party AVR's...who also assembles other brands under the same roof as well

Pioneer home audio is done, unless someone picks up the license. Even then there is no telling what will happen to future branded products. The old Pioneer plasma Tv's are a great example of this

I would be interested to know how PAC is doing with sales
Clearly, if we have 4 year old mid line Asian branded AVR's, for sale, it looks like companies are conserving resources.
That used to never happen. in low to mid tier Asian branded AVR's. It was new products every year

You have to buy well
Which typically means you cant buy something as soon as it hits the market

Additionally..brands that typically have an update every year, which all the low and mid tier Asians brands used to do, are going to fall quickly in resale

I recently sold an Onkyo RZ50 , that I owned for 18 months , and basically got the money back that I originally paid for it. In fact could have gotten more, but I just wanted a quick sale.

To your point though on the used market
There are some gems that in many cases offer more amp/power supply capability than the new models
Unfortunately , you may lose the latest RC and HDMI capability though
