They had zero desire to help me. They give a shorter warranty so they dont have to cover the problems they create by cutting corners and they turn that into a profit maker by trying to overcharge for replacement parts. I will never buy REL again and would definitely not recommend them.
I've been enjoying mine for over a year now.

HT = your EYES are the dominant sensory input, followed by the ears as a distant second.
Critical music listening = all EARS!
All this audiophool pedantry, pearl-clutching and nitpicking is irrelevant to the vast majority of HT users who simply (gasp!) WATCH movies instead of obsessively micro-listening to them.
If you can't honestly distinguish between those two absolutely distinct modalities, there's nothing more that can be done.

Just get a fancy Atmos soundbar like everyone else that believes that pitch and says it's a "fantastic price to performance option"!!!
REL is the only sub maker I know of (correct me if there are others I don't know of) which specifically tells people to run speakers full range with them for the sake of "better integration." I know someone who stupidly did that and ended up blowing their not-cheap towers (Polk Lsi-M) as a result during high volume listening. (And before you ask, yes he was using an Anthem receiver not something entry-level.)
As I have already said in my previous post, no XO is a brick wall, only a slope. And there is no such thing as a "correct" XO point (as long as you don't choose one too low for the speaker's bass limits causing damage to it next time there's some huge explosion or rumble during some dumb action flick), you pick whatever sounds best to YOUR ears with whatever source you're using at any given moment. Yes, it's SUBJECTIVE, just like most things in life.
It's not necessary to turn this silly hobby into some OCD-nerd wang-measuring contest. 🙄
But it sounds like you are talking more about the LFE channel in home theater which is a totally different beast and yet the same rules apply. Correct crossover as set in an AVR/processor is again going to depend on speaker capability/room interaction/user preference but the idea that you just arbitraily set it somewhere and send everything below that point to the sub(s) leaves a lot to be desired. Does it work? Well, you'll get sound out of the system. But will it sound even remotely as good as it could? Most likely not, especially if you aren't running the same speaker on all 5/7/9/whatever channels.
And whoever blows out speakers because they used them beyond their capabilities has only themselves to blame. Whatever bone you have to pick with Rel is your business; they seem to be doing just fine without your business so whatever. But not everybody's audio experience is the same as yours - some people really enjoy digging in and in my experience I've been rewarded by taking the time to research, learn, and experiment. If you just want to plug in, set it, and forget it then cool...you do you. But don't crap on people who are looking for something more.

I was hoping you were capable of more original thinking. I appear to be sadly mistaken.
Neither one was terrible, but similar or better performance can be easily had for 50% or less of their stupid pricing which clearly follow the Veblen Goods "outrageously inflate to impress the gullible simpletons" technique.
The only thing REL subs really have over internet-direct sub specialist companies like Hsu, RSL, etc is form factor prettiness.

It doesn't take any special voodoo to make the sub unlocalizable and "disappear"---just patience and due diligence thorough experimentation with various settings and room positionings.
It is not much better than some $300 speakers using this "decent" sub on some entry level AVR!!!
