They may be roses if you believe in them.

Buyer beware with "knock-out" roses. Most are grafted plants meaning the grower cut a branch off of one plant and glued or stitched it to the root of another. The plants will bloom but are not resilient meaning they are susceptible to disease and bugs. All plants are susceptible to those things but grafted plants are more likely to die. I had a few that died and it was a pain.
If you want good quality roses, go to davidaustinroses.com or heirloomroses.com. They're both awesome. You can order now for delivery later after your first frost. I'm not associated with either of these two...just a big fan. Good luck.

Many many plants, and in fact, most fruit trees are grafted. There are a variety of reasons for grafting, but one of them is to actually improve resistance to disease and insects. I don't know that I've ever seen anybody say that grafted plants were inferior, I'd like to hear more about the sources for your conclusions.
