They just had it at this same price for roughly 2 weeks around BF/CM. Maybe they didn't sell as many as they were hoping/expected. I also had some google credits so I pulled the trigger and bought one during that sale. I'm happy with it so far, but I'm not sure how it compares to similarly priced buds.

I found the 1st gen much more comfortable, I gave my kid the 2nd gen one, too uncomfortable.

I loved the first gen As but then constantly fall out of my ears. Comfort and fit is probably going to be very individual. Hoping these work better for me, we'll see.
