Connect an external SSD. This laptop was already a steal at $1000 ever since they added 16gb to the base model. At $750 it's probably the best deal in the laptop world. There's no windows laptop that compares, truly.

Absolutely. However, loyal customers will likely ignore this. The next March, when they release a new version, the baseline storage capacity will be 512GB. I believe they are currently clearing inventory. The same deep discounts were observed for 6GB RAM.

16gb offends me more than 256gbBut what offends me the most is that you can't upgrade yourself (without voiding warranty, etc.). Macs are great, but this is gouging customers in an ugly way. If my wife didn't use one there is no way I would pay the premium. I cannot seriously buy a 16gb/256gbSSD laptop for real use in December 2025.

I think laptops will come with 512 gb standard soon, but based on our metrics most people nowadays consume more storage on their phones than laptops (photos/videos). We no longer see mp3 or video collections on laptops like we did 10 years ago because of streaming.
