I don't understand why people still buy store specific cards that can only be used at certain retailers. Just buy a visa gift card. It works everywhere.
Better yet, just give cash.
If I'm going to buy something at Lowe's anyway, I prefer to go this route and save some extra money.

Because these are 15% off and Visa gift cards aren't.

They charge a $5-7 activation fee and a small remaining balance is annoying to get rid of.

"It works everywhere." - except the places where those get declined, which seems to be fairly commonplace, especially online.

So does this mean that if you purchase a $50 GC, it comes with $57.50 on it, or is the $7.50 awarded somewhere else (grocery rewards). I ask because we don't have Kroger in my area.

Thanks!
Usually $42.50 for a $50 GC, just happens to be through Kroger....
Just add to your cart, go through checkout up until final submit button and see if your total is $42.50

I bought it this morning. Paid $50 and it was loaded with $57.50
Whatever card/email I try, it's not going through. Even for $50 gift card Kroger support is doing big issue.
Tried in Incognito mode as well. Is it working for everyone or anyone facing issues?
Add code FESTIVE5 for a 5% discount, only on digital cards though. The Seasons Greetings one is a physical card. Also Paypal checkout on your Chase Freedom cards

Not if you buy them when there's no fee or the Odom promotion which comes out too less than face value. The remaining balance is simple. Use at Costco or a grocery store and it will deduct whatever is left on it.
