I got this last time it was on super sale, $100 IIRC and it's been great, I actually prefer it over our le creuset.

The staub is lighter, though it has slightly less capacity at 4tq vs 4.3 qt. The enamel is better on the staub, whereas the one from Amazon has a higher chance of cracking and chipping.
The Amazon enamel is lighter colored, so easier to see fond and how a cooks is progressing vs being more difficult to see with the black Staub.

This is the best price currently for the Staub, it's $150 everywhere else. This had been an sale for years at $99, so much for tariffs

i see, thanks for the insight. any comments on my issue with burning? i have a dark burnt layer on the bottom of my amazon basics one and have a hard time getting it off (tried vinegar/baking soda soak, etc..). I don't want to use something too abrasive but seems that's the only way to get it off. honestly, it does't affect cooking, so I'm not concerned with it. just looks dirty aesthetically

will I have less of an issue with stuff like this with the staub?
To remove that burnt layer...Pour about 1 inch of hydrogen peroxide in the pan, bring to a boil and add about 1/2 cup of baking soda to boiling peroxide . Remove from heat and let it sit for a couple minutes. It will bubble when you add baking soda. You may need to repeat if it doesn't remove it all the first time. Use a plastic scrubbie to remove stubborn spots

No you didn't. But thanks for the laugh. These weigh a ton and it would cost that much to ship it.

I'd go for the $45 lodge one at walmart [walmart.com]. It's 5.5 qt though. Not seeing anything with these Staubs that impresses me more than that.
It's made in china, no chance I'm eating those farking chemicals

You didn't miss anything. That deal was for "The Cellar" brand; not a Staub; and it was a Macy's Last Act deal (final sale). It's still available and for green only.

If you have a library card, you can get access to consumer reports for enamel cast iron Dutch ovens. Staub performs poorly, le creuset a bit better but cheaper ones were at the top including merten & storck.
Why you lie like that? I just checked consumer report and it says Staub excels in all areas of cooking, even heat distribution, browning, etc. Staub uses a unique triple layer enamel on their pots, hence why they cost so much and last for decades. Other pots may begin to show signs of cracking or chips in their enamel after 7-8 years, but Staubs triple layer process, means it will last for decades and decades. Look it all up for yourself.

Also 4 quart is usually used in kitchens for long soups or sauces, that need good heat retention and have to simmer on the stove for hours. In Louisiana we use a 5.5-6 quart as a standard for making Gumbo. Obviously your family size and cooking needs may differ, so you might use this size for smaller batches of food.

Thanks for reminding me to check my account. FYI Merten & Storck is $245. Looks like Lodge is the best overall value buy.

That garbage also has made in china chemicals. China knows the pits they're making is for the USA, they're not our friends, BTW.
