The "LV8" thing is just trim. The shoe itself is just Pegasus Plus, which is a relatively boring neutral daily trainer. It was reviewed poorly on launch but a part of that was due to its silly MSRP of $180 or $190.
It's a little soft (as in the opposite of firm) in the midsole and a little bit light in overall weight. But most metrics are middle-of-the-road with the rest of the market. Some reviewers I follow did not like how it fit their shoes. As always, fit is personal and it's risky to buy shoes online without trying on a similar model in person.

What does LV8 mean? Is it just a model number?

it's a low level shoe you get in starting areas. as you level up, you'll gradually get higher tier shoes.

I believe it's supposed to be read out loud as "elevate". They're supposed to have a thicker sole or insole, hence the "elevate". But who knows. They're not super tranparent about the actual differences.

How's Pegasus 41 in comparison? Seems like that's on discount as well.

Pegasus 41 are better (IMO) these shoes were more on the firmer side. Not the same "bounce" compared to Pegasus 41

Where is a poor review or middle of the road metrics?

I run in these, I've been running in every kind of Pegasus for 15 years. These blow the normal 41s out of the water, especially if you mid foot strike.

Agree on the MSRP being too high, but they've been going on sale around $80 for months now. Solid shoes.

Middle of the road metrics: https://runrepeat.com/nike-pegasus-plus
Poor reviews: https://www.doctorsofrunning.com/...-2024.html
Note the deal is about this particular model, not other models you've used in the past

On what planet is this a middle of the road review?

Pros
Amazing look
Bouncy ZoomX midsole
Much faster than a regular Pegasus
Great for tempo sessions
Flexible build
Good option for lightweight runners
Versatile for multiple paces
Classic, fun running experience

Energy return
The standout feature of the Pegasus Plus—and the reason behind its name—is the full ZoomX midsole, designed to deliver more energy return than ReactX. And yes, it delivers.

In our lab, we measured a significant boost over the regular Pegasus.

Nike and Adidas love to make 20 of the ugliest colorways possible then try to get you to wear them by discounting them way below just black

After buying these (in a different color) I realized squishy shoes just don't agree with my feet. I also bought a pair of Asics cumulus 27 and holy smokes! Stable, supportive, yet soft (not squishy). Most comfortable shoe of all time.
