Do a Google search for "Amazon comingled inventory". Amazon promised to stop doing this sometime in the future, but they didn't give an exact date.

2032 batteries are much cheaper on ebay. you can get good brands like Sony and others for much less and they last for years in my car keys.

It makes absolutely no difference. The source is exactly the same. If it's directly from Amazon's inventory, it's likely to be safe (in general), unless they ship a pack that's been previously opened and returned (which has been a general problem with various items from Amazon these days).
If it's from a 3rd-party seller?....not so much....but it might be OK (it all depends upon the seller).
EDIT: I just checked....this is from Amazon's own inventory.

Additionally, these are supposed to have "color alert technology", which alerts parents/caregivers if a child either has the battery in their mouth or swallows it (it turns their mouth blue). It's unlikely that counterfeit batteries would have this feature.

As long as they are lithium batteries, it's all about the same. I just checked my ebay purchase history, it was actually Toshiba brand, not Sony. I bought it in April 2022, and the battery is still working in my car remote. If you don't need 10 batteries, a 5 packs sells for about $3 on ebay currently

EBay products are much more likely to be counterfeit, but maybe good enough for car keys.

I'm not sure about the color alert but these also have the bitter coating that Apple announced doesn't work well with AirTags. Or at least it didn't when the AirTags first came out.

It's too risky buying the off-brands on Ebay. Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic and others are actually considered "off-brands" in the world of batteries. Many of them can be counterfeit. It's best to avoid them.

Not the same....there are counterfeit batteries with "brand names" (but not in the world of batteries).

That's true....but you can clear off the coating by rubbing both sides of the battery with either an alcohol pad or alcohol (70 or 91%) on a paper towel.

In what ways are these better than the Amazon ones which are roughly the same every day cost vs this one on sale? Besides the child proofing that some of us don't need at all.
