Curious if anyone can comment on the battery life. 43wh is dismal, but it's also only 13in screen. Maybe this only has decent battery life when compared to other 13in laptops?

I got the older version of this laptop using the 8650u Ryzen 5. Depends on your use, the battery is decent if used continuously, not so much if used on intervals of sleep mode. Then again, sleep mode has always been a big battery drainer in non-snapdragon windows laptops, but I got more battery by configuring the power button to instead of activating sleep mode go into hibernation. This reduces battery drain significantly while adding only a little bit more time to wake up. When writing documents or navigating online I also got more battery life by setting the processor to only max out at 65% when on battery in the power plan settings, the performance is still quite high (no-lag) with this setting for word documents and web browser use while saving more battery. With these settings I can get roughly a full day of non-continuous use and several days of light use

I believe the new Ryzen AI are super power efficient when compared to the older gen AMD mobile CPU's (for example my 8845HS). Like 15TDP vs 45W TDP. So the WH of the batteries aren't directly comparable. They seemed to accept a slight hit (or no gain, except in single core) in the performance department to account for the rather large increase in battery life. Depending on your use case that might be worth the trade off.

Personally I can't decide if it is worth the trade off.

Yep, current price is $799. But for those with id.me affiliation (e.g. military), that does give an additional discount of 5%, to $760

thunderbolt,,,I have auto correct Smilie. regardless, does it or does not have a TB? Spec say USB C max speed 10GBs, sounds like no TB to me. Besides, do any Ryzen based laptop have a TB? TB works better with docking stations and large drive pools, and eGPUs

I'm just messing with you!

FWIW, I don't think many AMD's have Thunderbolt or Thunderbird. Not sure why.

TB is an Intel tech, they integrated the controller in the CPU SoC. Intel sells discrete controllers but most OEMs don't use them. HP actually integrates TB on Ryzen systems the most of OEMs but It seems this particular laptop doesn't have it. For comparison, MacBook Air has it. So, for this price point unless one really wants a nice ultracompact WinOS laptop, the MBAir is better choice. Particularly after the yesterday Windows update that forced Copilot AI into the kernel....MS is getting more and more annoying.
