Don't forget to pick up some 1/2" bolts to bolt it down to your workbench.

Is the clearance price of $76 the price it scans at in store, or could it be less already?

There are some similar options around this price range if you don't want to play the ymmv game. Here's one that is a little lighter, but looks like it would do the job ($77.03 @ time of posting, bolts included):

Lol...is Bessey a known brand? I can tell it isn't that great because nobody piped in to say these suck since they stopped making them in the U.S.

A search shows these are generic Chinese vises with the name Bessey stamped on them. I'd still buy it, just trying to convince myself not to run allover town trying to get one.

Here's the corresponding harbor freight version for $79.99:

Bessey is a German tool brand that's been around for 150 years.

Famous for clamping and holding devices, they actually invented the F-clamp.

And some nice wide washers won't hurt either.

When I was shopping for a vice, I found many brands that looked like they came from the same mold. But the quality varied widely. Many of the cheaper brands, while they looked the same, were made of pot-iron. And not very strong. It's probably fine for a home shop for some one who doesn't need to pound and bend a lot of things, and just needs a third hand to hold stuff. But if your doing a lot of hard work, the more expensive (better quality steel) ones are a better choice.

4.2 stars out of 200 reviews is pretty good.

Most people who break a vise try to use it as a bearing press - and of course, nothing will break it faster.

Or they will over tighten the rotational clamps, stripping out the cast iron holes. Just snug them up, they are not going anywhere.

Even if you do break it, it has a Lifetime Warranty (compared to HF 90 day warranty). Hopefully Bessey will be around for another 150 years...
